That foundation was set during a 20-year Marine Corps career. At Medtronic, one of the world's leading medical technology companies, he worked directly with providers and surgical teams and again earned recognition as a top performer. In 2014, he founded Central Tox LLC, doing business as Semper Fi Labs, to deliver dependable toxicology services while holding the highest standards of quality and compliance. Rather than rely on off-the-shelf software, he led development of Elevate, a proprietary laboratory information system built to support operations, compliance, and evolving customer needs.

Under his leadership, Central Tox is the only Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that holds a National Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and an Interservice Security Agreement (ISA), and the company has earned multi-year Exceptional CPARS ratings on active VA contracts. Those ratings, completed by government contracting officials rather than self-reported, measure quality, schedule, cost control, management, and compliance.

As healthcare technology advanced, Michael expanded into health information technology, working to improve interoperability between providers and the VA. His company, PHI Fortress, is the only SDVOSB operating within the AWS GovCloud VA enterprise space, a distinction that reflects the specialized security and compliance demands of federal healthcare work. In 2026, he received the FORUM Innovation Award for helping develop a production-ready solution advancing healthcare data interoperability within the Department of Veterans Affairs.
