For Michael Schmitt, a career is measured by the problems it solves and the people it serves. That belief traces back to 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, where he led personnel across worldwide assignments and learned that leadership means developing others and staying accountable when it matters most. Service has remained the organizing principle of his work. In commercial healthcare, top-performing roles at Pfizer and Medtronic put him alongside the providers and surgical teams who depend on reliable products to care for patients. In 2014, he founded Central Tox LLC, doing business as Semper Fi Labs, and built it on dependable systems, including the proprietary Elevate laboratory information system. Central Tox is the only SDVOSB holding a National MOU and an Interservice Security Agreement, and its multi-year Exceptional CPARS ratings on VA contracts reflect performance verified by government officials. His work now centers directly on those who have served. Through PHI Fortress, the only SDVOSB operating within the AWS GovCloud VA enterprise space, Michael develops secure solutions that improve how laboratory, imaging, and clinical data move through the Department of Veterans Affairs, strengthening continuity of care for veterans. In 2026, this work earned the FORUM Innovation Award for a production-ready interoperability solution. That dedication continues outside his professional life. Michael supports the Wounded Warrior Project, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, and the ASPCA, organizations whose missions echo his own belief in service, sacrifice, and compassion. Backed by two bachelor's degrees and a Master of Business Administration, he remains focused on building systems, teams, and technologies that make a meaningful difference for the people who rely on them.
