For MICGénero it is important to support this kind of artwork, because, as we said in the theme of this year, the media have an active participation in our societies and, taking into account that in recent years the cinema has covered an important place, we need to promote projects that question the status quo, making visible the invisible and promote equal participation of all social groups. Under this outlook, MICGénero, with the help of its allies and collaborators: ACGIC A.C., Estudios Churubusco, Entertainment Partners, LCI Seguros, New Art Digital, El Formato Casa Productora, Matching Founds through the Dual Year Germany / Mexico, UNESCO and CNDH, will provide funding support to projects, both in the category of full length film and short film, which they will be selected by a jury of national and international stature specialist in the subject; that also, those who are elected, will part of the official selection of MICGénero in 2017. The selected projects will be presented to a jury and an audience of professionals in the audiovisual industry, in gender studies and human rights during the GenderLab/Work in Progress of this year, that will be held from the 8th to the 12th of August 2016, in México City. They also will recive a series of cinematography counseling in postproduction and distribution (for the case of postproduction), and training workshops focused on different disciplines of filmmaking as well as individual consultations with tutors to strengthen their projects (in the case of production). Likewise, this year, the winner proyect: The Swirl of Laura Herrero, will be part of the MICGénero official selection.

GENDERLAB / WORK IN PROGRESS
This year, MICGénero will present their third edition of GenderLab / Work in Progress and, like the past editions, once again issued calls of support for production and postproduction of independent film projects addressing gender issues and human rights, and that do not have the necessary financing to complete its processes.
