Artist’s Statement This body of work explores emotions through a series of black and white photographs taken during a contemporary dance rehearsal. It is metaphor for another idea, another experience or feeling. The perception in some way connected to a previous experience registered in our memory. That place closer to the state of our soul, of a gesture than can mean a multitute of things. It is the truth inside each and every one of us, or own truth.
Biography Micas Fernandes is a photographer from Portugal. A performing arts photographer by passion. She has studied photography in UCE Birmingham, England in the nineties. For over a decade she has worked in an Advertising Photography Studio in Birmingham and at the same time continuing to to develop her own artistic work. Micas’ projects includes Artistic Residencies in Devon and Madeira, as well as, exhibitions in England and in Madeira and the participation in the photography festival Imago Lisboa.
