PROJECT RATIONAL
BACKGROUND
Focusing on ‘Atmosphere’ as the basic elements, you will continue your selected ‘field of study / theme’ derived from your earlier project – ‘Pop-up Furniture’. You will consider how the selected ‘theme’ relate to your current clients’ subject areas. You will draw inspiration from many artistic outputs to ensure your design encapsulates the mechanism of your client and its business & branding, as well as the essence of the site context & background, whilst providing a quality atmospheric experience for your visitors. You also will carry out a ‘Review & Abstract’ task. In this task, you will produce a ‘Review’ in graphic report format looking at design strategies and interiority of a practitioner on an adaptive reuse scheme, which forms part of your precedent studies. At the same time, you will produce ‘Abstracts’ using hybrid technique (model making, photography & illustration) as a representation of your design intention of the ‘Concept Store’. This form part of the examinations of spatial quality of your design intervention, focusing on ‘Atmosphere’. The ‘Review & Abstract’ will communicate the ethos and design output of the practitioner and will form a critical comparison to your own ethos and design identity. The ‘Review & Abstract’ must show how you have gathered relevant knowledge surrounding your case study, critically analysing aspects such as site, building, planning and layout, materials and atmosphere.

CONCEPT AND MOOD
I have chosen “Accordion” as the main element for the concept. The primary idea for the concept is that the
accordion has the attributes of being “stackable”, “expandable”, and “retractable.” All these attributes provided the aspects of motion-like, uniform and consistent, as well as enigmatic, that I find them very appropriate for this project.
I have showcased the material palette. In it, you can find the materials such as steel, timber, concrete floor, pattern tiles, as well as the vintage wall. The pictures next to it shows the mood of the concept store. The color palette of the structure is also shown below.

ing with wooded concepts and a few sketches here and there. In the beginning, I started out with just a simple wooden frame structure. Then I experimented by stacking multiple frames into on big structure. Then, I further created a corridor-like structure as well as an open kitchen area where customers can a close-up experience to see how meal are being prepared.
