San Beda Hosts Stargazing and Telescope Workshop forMahighers

With a warm and hospitable hand, San Beda’s Bedan Society of Young Astronomers (BSYA) welcomes Mahighers last January 27, 2023 to an overnight Stargazing and Telescope Workshop together with their science teachers, as commissioned by Mrs June Daffodil

On the first half of the workshop, Professor Jun Cajigal, San Beda faculty member and BSYA founder demonstrated how to assemble a telescope and briefly explained how each component works He also talked about the importance of these components and showed where to place them when assembling a telescope
After the demonstration, Professor Cajigal let the MHS students assemble a telescope on their own
In accordance with the theme 'Beda
Under the Stars', MHS students were taught about astronomy specifically about celestial bodies like the moon
Afterwards, they were given a chance to view the moon through a telescope Although the moon can be seen every night, the lunar sightseeing is still a sight to remember for the students
This kind of activity was made possible because of Manila High School’s partnership with San Beda University
Department, Mrs Miriam N Pascua then stated the purpose of the event
To strengthen the idea of parents’ involvement in a child’s reading process, the English Department invited a special guest, Mrs Magnolia Gonzalo, current GPTA Auditor, to read to the students the story entitled ‘Honorable Dishonor ' Further helping students to understand the story, Mrs Lady Chris C Leonardo, Master Teacher of the English Department and Adviser of the English Club asked questions about the piece and gave prizes to students who were able to answer
