Cover Story

The ‘smart’ warehouse – where everything’s in its place…

Effective inventory management calls for a more configurable WMS, because fulfillment centers that inspect receipts, move them to the best location and use the data at their disposal have the ability to speed up this crucial process and achieve optimum accuracy. The rapid advance of cloud software in the last few years has allowed logistics and ecommerce managers to rethink their operations from the ground up, particularly when it comes to put-away. A best-of-breed WMS, paired with hand held devices that tells your people exactly what to do and where to go, provides complete certainty on how every item should be handled and stored – plus all-important instant visibility of your inventory. Smarter warehouses recognize that inventory management is continuous, rather than a process that ends the minute a shipment is received and put-away. Human error and manual/paper processes can both lead to inventory mishaps at multiple points, from goods-in to packing and shipping. Without a keen focus on accuracy, inventory management mistakes result in lost productivity and reduced revenue – your customer receives the wrong item, generating unexpected returns, or you may not have the correct item in your warehouse to begin with, causing order processing delays. The majority of inventory errors occur at two crucial checkpoints: receiving and put-away. Fulfillment centers face many potential pitfalls while receiving goods, but an agile and adaptable WMS will allow your labor to 6

scan cases for failsafe identification and validation and also supports default units of measure for receiving. As an added benefit, tying receipts back to purchase orders will allow processes to be completed around over/under/ partial receiving. Put-away errors can be even more of a headache, as they’re difficult to identify quickly, however barcode or RF scanner-driven WMS provides proper processes and much greater visibility and validation to assist in locating inventory. It allows you to investigate what was put-away before and whether the inventory went to the same location of a previously put-away line. Because your business needs to know what capital it has tied up in inventory, an advanced WMS also includes cycle counting functionality which will automatically generate the inventory counting tasks to be performed concurrently with other warehousing tasks – ensuring any auditing process takes place with maximum efficiency and minimum disruption to your operation. As buying trends shift, the ability to alter inventory locations on the fly is critical for productivity too, while your WMS productivity data will give you a better idea of how to address labor and tracking inefficiencies. When you put away inventory without a verification scan, you’re more likely to make an error in data recording – which then must be rectified during the picking process. WMS software additionally drives best practices for replenishment, because an optimized system saves on costs and ultimately cuts down on the errors that can cause the entire inventory workflow to break down. Whether it’s demand based, routine or top off, all three of these replenishment methods could be in use at the same time in the same facility – for example supplying a grocery store chain dealing with seasonal products, staple foods and meals that require special preparation and packing – so without a robust method for planning, tracking and executing these strategies, there’s no telling how much productivity could be wasted. The best solution is an easily implemented WMS with system-directed and scan-confirmed picking. This allows data on inventory levels and item destinations to be recorded in real time, and eliminates confusion when it comes to picking and packing for shipment. Using this reliable methodology, replenishment processes also

With a fit-for-purpose cloud WMS like SnapFulfil – offering Tier-1 functionality, proven delivery methodology and enterprise class IT Structure – you’ll gain a total solution that supports maximum inventory accuracy and visibility across the entire warehouse. It also integrates seamlessly with other systems that might be in place like ERP, but because that’s not really geared up for facilitating more than one product per location, brings the capacity to manage dynamic locations and have a real-time handle on batch control. Inventory management is the root of efficiency throughout your operation and by prioritizing it across processes you’ll find that errors will drop while productivity and revenue begin to rise. Quality improvements present themselves in overall inventory validity; however where inventory attributes like Receipt Date, Lot/Batch Code Management and Expiration Date Management drive warehousing requirements, an RF-directed WMS also ensures dedicated and all-important management of the associated inventory.

Winter Weather is Here — What Should You Be Doing Before, During, and After a Shift to Stay Safe?

Brush up on cold weather forklift safety considerations Safety is top-of-mind for material handling professionals year-round, but winter weather can introduce some unique challenges including snow and ice, extreme cold weather, low visibility, increased maintenance needs, and wet, slippery outdoor surfaces. While there’s nothing fleet managers and forklift operators can do to change the weather, there are plenty of precautions they can take to combat these cold weather hazards. Here are important safety considerations for material handling professionals to follow before, during, and after a shift: Before • Ensure that forklifts are properly maintained and serviced over the winter months. Also, using pneumatic tires with chains or studs can improve traction on slippery outdoor surfaces. • Wear proper PPE and dress appropriately with multiple layers, waterproof boots, gloves, and a hat, depending on how severe weather conditions are. It’s also recommended that operators wear clothing with brighter colors for increased visibility. • Conduct a pre-operation inspection of the equipment and report any issues. The Occupational Safety and Hazard Administration (OSHA) requires that all forklifts be examined daily before being placed in service. • Allow the forklift to properly warm up before operating. This is important for the engine and the hydraulics. 10

January 2021

Material Handling Network

www.MHNetwork.com

During • Slow down and drive carefully. Most notably, operators should drive with caution when turning corners, driving over any slope or bridge, and driving near doorways, as they are often icier. Additionally, drivers should increase their following distance and slow down earlier when coming to a complete stop. • Maintain proper visibility. Several factors can impact an operator’s visibility in the winter including shorter daylight, higher levels of fog, snow, rain, hail, ice, and wind. Operators should ensure that their facility has proper lighting and the forklift has working lights and windshield wipers. • Stop working if conditions deteriorate including slippery driving conditions and limited visibility, to name a few. After • Clean the equipment, removing any snow and salt. This will help prevent issues like rust and corrosion. • Store forklifts in a warm, dry facility or building between use or overnight to prevent ice formation. • For crews operating propane equipment, store propane cylinders in a dry place, too. A local propane supplier can advise businesses with the safe placement of their cylinder cage. Preparation and proper training are key to keeping crews safe through the winter months — and all year long. For more forklift safety information, or to learn more about propane-powered forklifts, visit Propane. com/Forklifts. Warehouse Solutions

Four Promising Ways to Easily Optimize Warehouse Efficiency

Better warehouse efficiency is a common goal set by companies of all sizes and types. As efficiency rates go up in a facility, there’s a higher likelihood of that business keeping clients pleased and staying competitive. It’s easier than you may think to make your warehouse more efficient. Here are four tips that can help you make the most significant impacts. 1. Assess Data Before Making Changes Hopefully, your company has reliable internal data sources to check before implementing any major new improvement strategies. Perhaps looking at those was the main thing that made you realize your warehouse falls short of the efficiency you’d like to achieve. Data analysis helps all kinds of businesses become more efficient when done correctly. For example, it can improve planning and decision-making. Company leaders also evaluate data when looking for valuable trends. An e-commerce warehouse manager may notice that the people picking goods associated with a particular department are consistently less productive than their colleagues. A closer investigation could show that the problem lies in the organization of the containers holding the merchandise. Information sources do not always reveal the causes of inefficiency issues. However, they can point people in the right direction. Thus, looking at data from the start guides future decisions about making people and processes more efficient.

2. Keep Equipment Properly Maintained and Replace It When Necessary Today’s warehouses feature several categories of specialized equipment. Some machines and tools move goods, while others pack merchandise safely before shipment or help workers load and unload boxes when trucks arrive at the dock. Following the right maintenance schedule for each piece of equipment is crucial for maintaining productivity in the warehouse. For example, poorly maintained equipment is more likely to break down unexpectedly, potentially causing substantial workflow disruptions. It can also pose safety risks. Moreover, people who don’t stay on top of maintenance often find the equipment does not last as long as it should. Even with maintenance performed at the recommended intervals, replacing equipment becomes necessary eventually. However, looking for used options could help you save money. Similarly, if you want to invest in newer machinery on a modest budget, taking the preowned route could meet identified needs. If you’re in the market for a forklift, its age is not as important as its overall condition as far as performance goes. Age may matter if you want a feature that only became available recently. Otherwise, older models are often just as efficient as newer ones, provided the previous owners took good care of them. The same is true for other equipment utilized in warehouses. Used, well-maintained machinery can save you money while boosting efficiency. 3. Investigate Warehouse Redesign Options Redesigning your warehouse can also aid in optimizing warehouse efficiency. For example, traffic flow backups can prevent even the most motivated workers from performing well. Suppose a warehouse’s layout forces people to take too many steps to get where they need to go. In that case, they could spend almost as much time reaching the right points in a facility as they do actively participating in tasks that add value to the business. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the redesigns of warehouses worldwide. Suddenly, in addition to maximizing efficiency, managers had to accommodate for new health risks. They added more distance between

Warehouse Solutions continued workspaces and tweaked the layout of break rooms, for example. If you have already redesigned some aspects of the warehouse to reduce novel coronavirus risks, now may be an opportune time to assess how you could redesign to improve efficiency, too. Warehouse inefficiencies typically stem from a combination of three main problems. The first is a poor flow of people and equipment. Warehouses are busy places, and bottlenecks can occur that restrict the workflow. Product placement is another area of focus. Does it take your workers too long to reach the items they use most during the workday? If so, they may waste time despite their best efforts to make the most of it. Finally, look at the placement of your equipment. When people spend too much time walking to reach the tools or machinery they use to do their work, efficiency suffers. After checking those three factors, you may want to create warehouse maps that show the current conditions and what things will look like after you make changes. Plus, don’t forget to ask for feedback from workers. They can shed light on layout inefficiencies you may have missed or never considered. 4. Research Automation Possibilities Investing in automation can also cause notable

warehouse efficiency improvements. That’s especially true due to the increased availability of machines called cobots. They can work next to and around people safely without requiring barriers. Modern robots are also impressively streamlined, and they can handle various needs associated with numerous products. Some of the common ways to use robots in warehouses include tackling repetitive movement, such as tasks requiring frequent lifting. These responsibilities can cause worker fatigue, which could lead to reduced efficiency and higher injury rates. Robots can take items from conveyors or transport goods to other areas, preparing them for the next steps. Many of these machines have smart sensors that allow them to perceive and avoid obstacles — making them ideal for busy environments. Warehouse managers may initially think automation costs are too steep for their organizations. If that’s the case for you, see if the robots-as-a-service (RaaS) model is a feasible solution for cutting expenses. It requires a minimum investment for warehouse businesses ready to reap the rewards of automation. Customers pay a monthly fee that covers everything. Each company offering the RaaS model typically charges a set usage rate, so people only pay for the time when the machine operates. The efficiency payoff associated with automation is not immediate. That’s why company leaders must allow ample time to take care of the foundational necessities, such as installation, employee training and the adjustment period new technologies typically require. Track metrics to determine your starting point before launching your automation initiative. Then, see where you stand a few months later. Such comparisons usually help justify automation expenses, regardless of if you use the RaaS model. Committing to a Plan Brings Favorable Results Even as many warehouse professionals view improving warehouse efficiency as an ongoing goal, they aren’t always sure how to get started. Some also want to help teams get more done in their facilities but haven’t laid out the steps to reach that aspiration. These four steps will get you off to a strong start. They do not represent an all-encompassing list of how to boost output in warehouses, but they provide options for getting excellent outcomes. They will help people conclude that these changes address inefficiencies and positively affect profitability and competitiveness. Megan R. Nichols is an industrial writer and blogger. Top Resources to Use That Improve Workplace Safety

To manage the wellbeing of staff and the functionality of a premises effectively, firms must work with partners, consultants, and specialists to ensure that high standards are constantly upheld. The responsibilities in this arena are gargantuan in size, and it’s important that a company stays on top of each of them, always. But what resources are the most effective in improving workplace safety? The guide below will offer a few directions in which to take things forward. Consultancy Firms Adhering to The Health and Safety at Work Act can be overwhelming, for there’s many moving parts alongside the usual day-to-day business operations. Undoubtedly, brilliant health and safety practices work in tandem with everything else, and don’t just protect employees alone. They need to be integrated into a company seamlessly for the best results possible, and consultancy firms can help facilitate that transition in a smooth and timely fashion. Some expert guidance on things like insurance policies, fire risks, harmful substances, PPE provision and more, will just help businesses stay organised and ensure that nothing is overlooked. Ultimately, health and safety are very much their own industry in many respects. There’s an awful lot to think about, so any way to narrow everything down into something intelligible is no doubt welcome. That’s the role of a good consultancy firm! Expert Cleaning Services The event of the coronavirus means all workplaces need to be thoroughly immaculate for everyone’s personal safety. 16

Of course, making sure each surface is germ-free is a job in and of itself. Depending on the size of a business premises, the obligations here will get harder and harder to attend to. Consequently, some extra help can often be required, from employees being more responsible in their duties to hiring a disinfection service for retailers. Ideal Cleaning Services endeavour to prevent the spread of COVID-19 through a myriad of expert techniques, helping everyone return to work in as little as two hours after they disinfect the premises. Amid a pandemic, it’s important for companies to be as versatile and proactive as possible. Businesses can’t afford to be stalled and delayed for long, so quick fixes should be the priority through using top tier resources. Training Companies While services and partners can be invaluable, eventually the baton of responsibility gets passed to the employer and the employees. Utilising the services of quality training companies can be a great way to round out workplace safety preparations. Employees can take these courses in person (when lockdown permits) or via computer, learning new information that can help them perform current or new roles with safety precautions in mind. Workers can even garner new qualifications through CPD certified programmes. The subjects can be quite dry, but online course sales are surging under lockdown, highlighting a very real need for these services. In the end, it keeps everyone sharp and skilled, which will work wonders when it comes to a company’s long-term plans for maintaining health and safety.

Business Management

Facing the future through data management

Powerful software platform delivers return on investment (ROI) for manufacturers within weeks The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is accelerating the pace of change around connecting machines. Yet, fewer than 30% of manufacturers have extensively adopted Industry 4.0 technologies according to a new report. Here, Bijal Patel, Senior Digital Machining Specialist at global leader in metal cutting Sandvik Coromant, recommends that manufacturers start listening to what machines are saying by connecting up their machine shops. The IIoT has perhaps impacted manufacturing more than any other industry. The IIoT market is set to grow from $68.8 billion in 2019 to $98.2 billion by 2024 yet, on the other hand, a recent Industry 4.0 & Smart Manufacturing Adoption Report by IoT Analytics suggests that Industry 4.0 technology uptake is still low among manufacturers. The transformation from linear plant setups into dynamic and interconnected systems is one of the greatest challenges of our times for machine shops. Some are unsure as to how Industry 4.0 fits into their established way of doing things. Many perceive the adding of Industry 4.0 to existing production setups are being expensive — when it actually needn’t be. And other manufacturers see no reason to upgrade their existing tooling set-up and processes. Any given business will be at a different stage of their journey towards embracing digitalization with any specific view as to how this should be achieved.

But they need to make up their minds, as the COVID-19 continues to spell an unpredictable future for industry. In its recent COVID-19: Briefing note, analyst McKinsey & Company describes the upcoming climate for manufacturers as the “next normal” where manufacturers can expect unpredictable and lasting shifts in customer markets. The report says that resilience will be needed if manufacturers are to navigate an economically and socially viable path. Elsewhere, Pricewaterhouse Coopers’ (PwC) own COVID-19: What it means for industrial manufacturing report recommends that companies must expand into new industries, and take advantage of fresh revenue streams, either because they are forced to by defunct markets or because they simply spot an opportunity. Manufacturers must get on board now with these concepts to adapt existing processes, and to do so quickly and cost-effectively — but, how? More data, more problems? Fortunately, one solution involves a powerful — yet simple — approach. Sandvik Coromant first launched its latest CoroPlus® MachiningInsights platform, an expansion of the company’s CoroPlus suite of connectivity software, in 2018 at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago, US. The platform is designed to give manufacturers greater visibility of CNC machine tools and machining processes, and to provide the tools needed to analyze, identify, and eliminate common sources of downtime and inefficiency. Such a platform should prove useful as both Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) accelerate the pace of change around machine connectivity. The answer lies in the volume of data to be managed. Any CNC with an Ethernet port can send information to MachiningInsights at higher volume than most CNC shops currently collect, for producing manufacturing data analytics to improve workshop efficiency and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). As for different manufacturers at different stages of their IIoT journey, machines that are less than 10 to 15-yearsold will probably already be connectible to the network, and there are adapters for older machines to make them network capable. MTConnect, the manufacturing technical standard for retrieving process information from

Business Management continued numerically controlled machine tools, is the established protocol used to communicate with Sandvik Coromant’s CNC software. It can also connect to other types of manufacturing equipment using standard communication protocols. The safety question One aspect of MTConnect that may raise eyebrows is that it only allows one-way communication. Some plant managers may regard the use of uni-directional, instead of bi-directional, communication as a drawback. Sandvik Coromant recognizes the argument, but developers of MTConnect had some excellent reasons to make it unidirectional. From my own experiences of working in machine shops for many years, I still question how we can remotely control equipment that has human beings around it, while also guaranteeing their safety. Uni-directional communication puts control firmly in the user’s hand, for a simpler and safer approach. Another question of safety is that two-way communications make a machine tool more difficult to manage from a cybersecurity point of view. Many of today’s CNCs run Microsoft Windows, which historically has been known to present vulnerabilities. By limiting the flow of data to uni-directional communication, we help close that door and make certain that a shop’s milliondollar multitasking machine will not be held for ransom! Better access Since its launch, MachiningInsights has proven its value on the shop floor. Before implementing MachiningInsights, a shop supervisor would spend each morning entering performance indicators from the previous day’s production into a spreadsheet, then distribute that information to management and on to people on the production floor. If the operator adjusts a feedrate override, or a tool breaks, or the machine has been idle for a given number of minutes, MachiningInsights provides users with the ability to configure e-mail or SMS alerts based on any one of several dozen conditions or events, which are just a few of the everyday situations that contribute to machine downtime. The platform comes with a set of preconfigured reports and dashboards to get customers up and running quickly, who are free to modify them or to build their own from scratch. Users can log on to their MachiningInsights website and view whatever they have been allowed access to by the shop’s administrator. Anyone who wants to see this data can open real-time dashboards or reports, and have visibility of what is currently happening, rather than 20

what happened yesterday. The supervisor now has more time to act on information, instead of simply collecting it for historical purposes. If manufacturers already have an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in place, and want to avoid installing another software package, Sandvik Coromant has a standard application programming interface (API) that tech-savvy shops can use to connect MachiningInsights to other software. It is secure, easy to set up, and can be done with or without Sandvik Coromant support. As with all Software as a Service (SaaS) products, there is a negligible subscription fee based on the platform level and the number of machines to monitor — a small price to pay for the enhanced visibility, ease-of-use, and significantly greater opportunities for continuous improvement. ROI is typically attained in weeks or months — not years. New ways to automate Also in its COVID-19: What it means for industrial manufacturing report, PwC recommends that manufacturers should: “Expect a learning curve as companies devise new ways of working that involve more remote workers and automation on the factory floors.” For workshops that are running unattended or lightly attended, MachiningInsights can monitor spindle and servo loads, macro variables and operational status, and if the machine is equipped with the right sensors, temperature, power, and more. MachiningInsights is a subscription-based SaaS installed remotely by Sandvik Coromant. Once customers have identified the machines they wish to monitor, they can give Sandvik Coromant access to their server via TeamViewer or similar remote desktop software to install the service. The IIoT will continue its rapid growth and make countless productivity, profit and maintenance advantages available to machine shops that are willing to overcome their reluctance to embrace Industry 4.0. With the use of powerful-yet-simple software and by partnering with a trusted tooling specialist like Sandvik Coromant, manufacturers can go digital on their own terms — and be within the 30% of manufacturers that are prepared for an unpredictable future.

B&B Attachments Ltd Proudly Celebrates 40 years in Business In the December of 1980, an entrepreneurial couple by the name George and Irene Bell, founded a forklift truck attachment company and named it B&B Fork Lift Truck Attachments Ltd (now B&B Attachments Ltd). Initially, their plan was just to make a living and pay the mortgage. However, when all signs indicated that the industry was accepting B&B Attachments as a serious contender to the other attachment companies, George and Irene decided B&B was going to be number one, and planned to employ the best in the business to achieve this.

Industry News Award Winning Company, Combilift & Award-Winning Author, Emer Conlon – A Great ‘Combi’nation An exciting new children’s book has been launched! With Combilift’s unique portfolio of forklifts, the company is revolutionizing the way businesses handle and store materials, especially long and awkward loads, or when space is limited. Employing more than 600 people in their headquarters in Monaghan and with customers in more than 85 countries, Combilift is a formidable force in the Material Handling Industry. Innovation permeates throughout the company and this has now been extended to capture children’s imaginations at grassroots level. At first glance, the pairing of a children’s book and one of the largest indigenous companies in Ireland, may

not seem like a likely fit. However, when asked about this, Emer explains, “I approached Combilift just over a year ago, with a view to proposing a novel, unique way to communicate with existing and potential customers, as well as being involved in the education of the next generation. The idea was to write a children’s book which ‘cartoon-izes’ the main Combilift products and transforms them into characters that children will love. I wanted to also use it as a marketing tool for the adults and so I used the USPs of the actual forklifts and turned them into the superpowers of the characters! That way both adults and children would get something from the book!” Emer continues, “Martin McVicar (CEO & CoFounder) really liked the idea – especially the educational aspect for children and as a result of his astuteness, we proceeded with the book and CombiKids was created. So Combilift, is ‘Lifting Innovation’ and now CombiKids is ‘Lifting Imaginations’

We have found that a custom designed product can often be the best solution for lifts like these. www.modulift.com

Predictive Cutoff Flow Monitoring Predictive cutoff tracks the weight and up-to-date rate of change information to predict the weight values between scale updates. This allows for more accurate and precise filling. It’s particularly useful for those that rely on data reporting for material management or regulatory purposes, like loading trailers and rail cars for transportation in the agriculture, mining, and waste industries. Manufacturing facilities can use the instrument on hopper and tank scales, for batching processes and mixing for things like cement or fertilizer. www.fairbanks.com

Double quarter pallet lifter – new and interesting product from Logitrans!

Heavy-Duty Lifts for Air Cargo Containers and Unit Load Devices

Due to the one long fork, it is possible for you to handle two quarter pallets at the same time. This makes your work more efficient and increases your productivity. Another unique feature is that the double quarter pallet lifter also helps you reach the second quarter pallet at the far end of the EUR pallet. The situation where you normally need to move the EUR pallet and pick the quarter pallet from the other side. Also here, your workflow will be more efficient. www.interthor.com

The standard lift platform is equipped with inverted casters placed in a uniform grid pattern that allow cargo containers and Unit Load Devices (ULDs) to be maneuvered or moved easily across the deck in any direction. A platform deck without the caster array can also be provided. The platform deck is coated with a durable grit slip-resistant finish to provide workers with sure footing as loads are moved across it. A bolt-on side platform allows workers to stand on the side of the caster deck and can be mounted to either the left or right side. www.southworthproducts.com

Product Showcase Optronics Expands LED Utility and Work Light Offering

OZ Lifting Launches Stainless Steel Beam Clamp

The new lamps range from utility and work lights to scene lights, and even include a freestanding, rechargeable, cordless, multifunctional LED lamp. Optronics’ entire family of LED utility and work lights can match any budget and any application. “Utility and work lights are vital for those working in, on and around vehicles, particularly as the days grow shorter this winter,” Marcus Hester, vice president of sales and marketing for Optronics International, said. www.optronicsinc.com

Steve Napieralski, president at OZ Lifting, said: “In simple terms, a beam clamp allows the user to quickly and easily attach and remove the clamp to both sides of a beam to add an anchor point for hoists and other overhead lifting equipment. Importantly, beam clamps are not intended to be used as a lifting device; they are to be used as an anchor point for a hoist or other overhead equipment and the capacity applies only to vertical loads.” The beam clamps are designed for use in corrosive environments where the properties of stainless steel make it a preferred material. www.ozliftingproducts.com

New Stainless Steel Indexing Plunger

Protect Workers with Zoneworks® EZ Employee Separation Barriers

Other areas of industry, such as the paint manufacturing process, also take advantage of high hygienic standards. When using typical components, production machines and their environments require thorough cleaning. This means time-consuming costly disassembly and long machine downtimes, which is not the case when using components of hygienic design. These standard parts are made of high-quality materials with particularly smooth surfaces, making them significantly easier to clean, especially while still installed. Winco is expanding its hygienic design product family with a new indexing plunger. www.jwwinco.com

Zoneworks® by Rite-Hite has developed EZ Employee Separation Barriers for workers who cannot socially distance more than 6 feet. There are two basic types of these customizable barriers – a floor unit model and a tabletop unit. “We wanted to address the common workplace problem of airborne particulate safety, which has recently been reemphasized,” says Mary Blaser, Director of Marketing for Rite-Hite Environmental Enclosures Corp. www.ritehite.com

Pettibone Introduces Poclain CreepDrive™ System The Poclain CreepDrive is a hydrostatic driveline motor that can be clutched. When the operator wishes to engage the CreepDrive, the Speed Swing’s mechanical transmission is placed into neutral. A display interface is then used to raise and lower the engine RPMs, providing the necessary hydraulic flow – up to 33 gallons per minute – to run high-flow attachments. At the same time, the operator can control the CreepDrive with an integrated rocker pedal, which precisely travels the machine forward or backward at slower speeds of up to 2 miles per hour. High-flow attachments compatible with a CreepDrive-enabled Speed Swing include snow blowers, power brooms and several others. The Speed Swing 445F is also available with dozens of attachments that do not require CreepDrive, including an adjustable V-type snowplow, tote boom, track-cleaning bucket, load bucket, hydraulic tool circuit, magnet package, 20-foot extendable boom, fork frame, and many more. Most attachments can connect to the machine with a standard pin-on connection or ACS quick coupler. www.gopettibone.com www.MHNetwork.com
