Intergenerational Transitional Housing Ten Weeks Rhino, Illustrator, Photoshop Malls are continuously being used less and less to the point that it is expected that most, if not all, will eventually go out of business. What is left are enormous empty structures that can be redesigned for something new. In this project, students took the mall of Plaza Las America in San Juan Puerto Rico and each took their own zone to re-imagine what it could look like in the future.

Which a large homeless population as well as a large aging population, my project aims to create a system in which both groups can benefit by creating a Transitional Housing Program focused on families. With this comes a need for people to help in training, gardening, and so on. Here, older members of the San Juan seeking greater involvement in the community can assist in this as a way to share their knowledge, live here, as well as create bonds of kinship with the families residing there. The families benefit from this as well as the typical time the people spend in transitional housing programs can last anywhere from a few months to roughly three years.
