SUMMERAGE SALE

With old clothes, accessories, toys, and books donated by the members, the yearly Summerage Sale continues to be the launching project of the Finance Department. This year, the rummage sale is set for the first two weekends of June at the FNE Building in Fairview, Quezon City. Equipped and ready with the collected merchandise crunched in three paper bags, two balikbayan boxes, and one duffel bag —we’re set to sell all these cool things out to the people. Items range from as low as P10 up to P450, depending on quality and brand of the product. The main theme we set for this year’s rummage sale is the emphasis on the fact that they are “ukay” goods—meaning, both the price and condition of our merchandise are similar to those of regular thrift stores. The main niche is the fact that we assure that the goods came from clean people. This project’s main difference is that the capital needed is only for promotions and packaging. We basically have a zero-priced start-up, which makes it also a challenge to collect as much as we can to be able to sell more. So, if you ask, what’s fun about such a project? Although some would say it’s grimy because of the dust and outdated looks, the main fact that you’re selling out items that other people can still use is wonderful enough. Similar to treasure hunting (without the booty), we scavenge for good items for our target customers. We get junk that other people will appreciate and may have better use of. This exciting event doesn’t end here. Feel free to join us in the coming year as we offer more sales, bargains, and awesome merchandise for you and your loved ones to enjoy.

LM DRIVE 2012: JOURNEY TO WONDERLAND

We started the year with a brand new journey that no freshman Lex member will ever forget! For the first time ever, Ateneo Lex introduced a new project under the Human Resources Department: LM Drive, the Legal Management Preparatory Course for freshmen! Lex continues on its path as the organization with the most number of events with this new project that aims to unite incoming Legal Management majors as one, driven to make the most of their college years. It was a 2-day event that introduced the freshmen to the nuances of college life, acquaint them with one another and with the course, and bring them together not just as separate blocks but also as one big batch. LM Drive also aims to help younger Legal Management members get to know their seniors and get some tips on how to get the best out of their stay in the wonderland that is Ateneo. We continue the Drive next year, so come on and be a part of making Lex not only an org, but a real family.

RECWEEK 2012: GALEXY

Recweek is an event wherein organizations are given the opportunity to recruit their respective members. This is also an opportunity for members of the Ateneo community to explore their skills and interests by joining different organizations that offer avenues for holistic growth and character development. It is also a chance for old Lex members to welcome the new LM students into the Ateneo Lex family. The Ateneo Lex Recweek gives members, old and new, a chance to rekindle their loyalty to this family of diverse personalities. By recommitting to the organization, a member is given the open door for possibilities in terms of membership formation and project management through engaging in different Lex events and of course socializing with the Lex community.

PROJECT CONFERENCE FAIR

SEPTEMBER

When it comes to orgwork, a lot of people want to get involved—and why not? It’s great fun, a wonderful chance to meet loads of new people, and even a chance to hone your skills outside of the classroom. The problems faced by people who want to but just can’t, range from schoolwork, to lack of awareness, to other priorities, to “I didn’t even know we had that project,” and then to “I didn’t know they were looking for volunteers...” While we can’t solve all these problems, we want to help alleviate some of them. With that in mind, Ateneo Lex brings you the ProjCon Fair, a weeklong fair showcasing the various projects of the organization, along with infobooths and registration tables to get you hooked up to the latest thing the org has planned. The fair will be conducted alongside interview week, which means that you can sign up for projects right after being confirmed as a member of the org! Now is that convenient, or what? What are you waiting for, join us in bringing the Ateneo Lex to the next level! Ateneo Lex, always excellent, never mediocre.

BUILD YOU UP SEMINAR

The Build You Up Seminar Entrepreneurial Module is one of the two Business Applications umbrella projects offered by the Internal Affairs Department. It consists of two phases primarily geared towards initiating an entrepreneurial spirit amongst undergraduate students, especially Lex members. The first phase would be the LEGIT talk which specifically caters towards providing assistance for SOMBA and LS 126 students through equipping them with the knowledge regarding drafting business contracts and processes regarding securing permits and clearances from government agencies such as the DTI, SEC and the local barangay. Authorities in such fields have been contacted to be speakers for such event to share their expertise to interested student entrepreneurs. The second phase would be the JSEC Mentorship Program which would be made exclusively available to Lex members. This program aims to provide interested teams who wish to participate in the JSEC Challenges the competitive edge through the guidance provided by Lex members who are either previous or current JSEC stall owners. The modules that would be made available to participants would be spread across three stages. These consist of the Application stage which would consist of conceptualization, resource pool information and the actual proposal drafting modules; the JSEC Challenge stage, which would consist of modules which would provide tools on marketing and operations as well as a guide on how to have a smooth JSEC stall test-run; and finally, the actual Operational stage where mentorship would be extended to those who would win the JSEC Challenge. An official launch for this program would be held closely after the JSEC General Assembly which AMA will be organizing within the school year.

LAW SCHOOL FORUM

The Law School Forum presented by the Ateneo Lex in partnership with The Assembly will be the opening event that will begin and introduce the different number of law school-related activities set up by the organization for SY2012-2013. The primary goal of the forum is for the students to answer the question: “Is law school for me?” Going to law school is a major decision in a student’s life and the Ateneo LEX, being a law organization, seeks to aid these students in making this decision through the Law School Forum. This event seeks to help students of the Ateneo in deciding whether or not to go to law school by having different speakers talk about their experience in law school. These speakers will be coming from different law schools and backgrounds in order to show the students various situations. The project will be an open forum with a speaker mix of individuals from the top law schools in the Philippines. The event will have a total of eight (8) speakers coming from Ateneo Law School, University of the Philippines Law School, San Beda Law School, and the De La Salle University and Far Eastern University Institute of Law. Every school will be represented by two speakers coming from different backgrounds and have different interests. They will be talking about different topics such as handling a business, sports, fraternities, and their lifestyle in order to show the students some options and opportunities that they can take on while studying in law school. Some speakers that have come from non-law related undergraduate courses and some have come from law courses would be talking about what made them decide to go to law school. The event, being an open forum allows the participants to interact with the speakers in order to gain some first hand insight about the academic and non-academic aspects of law school. The event will be open to all Ateneo de Manila undergraduates who are considering in going in to law school. The Law School Forum will be held on July 9, 2012 from 4pm-7pm.

KANYE LEX: LEX FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY

LAW SCHOOL TRIPS

For a number of Ateneans, their formal education will not end upon graduating from their senior year. While some will take up medicine, masters, and graduate studies, others will choose to pursue law. However, the decision of which law school to attend is just as important as the decision to take up law in the first place. This year, Ateneo LEX, under the External Department, will provide students with the opportunity to gain valuable insight and information on their potential schools of choice by offering scheduled campus tours of various law schools within Metro Manila. The purpose of the trips is to help law school aspirants experience each school’s environment first-hand, as well as the day-to-day life of current law school students. Simulation classes, mock court trials, and open forums are designed to supplement the objectives mentioned. The open forums in particular will allow participants to talk to current law students and ask questions related to the latter’s experiences in law school, as well as the requirements for attending the school itself. Each trip is scheduled on a Saturday from either 7:00AM to 12:00NN or 12:00NN to 5:00PM, depending on the schedule given by the law school. Transportation will be provided for the participants in the form of a bus (jeepney for UP). Participants will board the bus in the Ateneo de Manila University and will be dropped off in the same location upon the conclusion of the trip. Dates: July 21, 2012 – University of the Philippines, Diliman July 28, 2012 – De La Salle University Law School, Taft August 4, 2012 – Ateneo Professional School, Makati Tentative: July 14, 2012 or August 11, 2012 – San Beda Law School, Mendiola

Lex’s First General Assembly is an annual event under the Human Resources department. It will serve as an avenue for the old and new members to grow to learn what Ateneo Lex is all about, what its officers want to share and offer to Lex members, and to grow as a family. This year’s theme will celebrate a musical icon, and will be named for him as well. We would like to invite you to this year’s first General Assemby, themed “Kanye Lex.” Listen and enjoy Kanye West songs and express yourself with our freedom walls, complete with markers and spray paints to let your creativity flow. As a general assembly, we expect more than 500 members as well as sponsors providing photo booths, selling apparel and food. Several games and icebreaker activities will also be played during the event. This will serve to bring people closer together through both camaraderie and competitiveness.

MOCK LAE

Are you ready for the first hurdle? Do you have what it takes to rise up against the impending challenge? Well you don’t have to answer that right now because the Mock Law Aptitude Exam (LAE) aims to help interested applicants prepare and be equipped to face the challenge of the law school entrance exams. Together with the Law School Forum and the Law School Trips, these three part programs aim to give the participants a brief taste and preparation of what to expect in law school. The Mock LAE, as the name suggests, is an actual simulation of the entrance exam to be conducted by the Ateneo Lex, specifically the Internal Affairs Department. Unlike its predecessors, this year’s Mock LAE is in partnership with The Assembly, the Political Science Organization of the Ateneo, which promises a more intensive and more conducive preparation for the Law Aptitude Exams. The three day event encompasses both UP and Ateneo law aptitude exams that are held in two separate days: each day dedicated to the two schools and the third day of the program would be a talk that would not only synthesize the learnings in the 2-day test period but also incorporate advice and guidelines that would make the entire experience for the participant enriching and helpful in honing him to be prepared as the time of the examinations emerges. Aside from the expectations that were already formed in the previous examinations, expect the current year’s Mock LAE to be a fusion of improvements from yesteryear and at the same time better and more intensive materials that would surely contribute on how the participants will take the test come the time of the LAEs. Ready or not, the LAE will surely be an opportunity an interested patron in the field of law would not dare miss. Why spend huge amounts of money in most review centers but gain similar knowledge through this program? Indeed, going to the Mock LAE will be vital for preparation in taking up the Law Aptitude Exams. ateneolex.org

MASH-UP ALMAP

Are you ready to be one of the cool kids? Do you want to meet other F.R.I.E.N.D.S? If you answered YES to both questions, this is the perfect event for you. Heads up as this project strikes once again this August 25! As part of the Externals Department, the Legal Management Exchange is all about fostering new bonds and connections among different schools and universities. Currently, it has successfully managed to team up with top universities such as UST and DLSU. Both universities were able to experience a day in the life of a Legal Management student in Ateneo and vice-versa. Campus tours and simulation classes were conducted during the event. This year there will be some slight changes in the project. The LMEx will not just invite 1 partner school to experience the goodness of being an Atenean LM student but 13 partner schools! This year’s LMEx is partnering with the Alliance of Legal Management Associations of the Philippines to invite the rest of the partner schools to come and gather in our campus! This is certainly a first for Ateneo LEX, so come on and join this one massive exchange! Mark your calendars and make sure you won’t miss this event brought by the Externals Department!!!

FRESHMEN LEADERSHIP TRAINING SEMINAR

One of the things that separates Ateneo from other schools is that the ability of Ateneans to be great leaders. As part of the Ateneo community the Ateneo Lex does indeed hold its own leadership development programs. As we all know each of the organizations should do their part in maintaining the high standards of excellence set by the university. In order to more efficiently inculcate and develop within Lex members the value of strong leadership, the Ateneo Lex has set about to initiate a leadership program specifically for Freshmen, to prepare them to take on greater leadership roles both within and outside of the organization. As we all know most of the students in Ateneo are leaders themselves in various high schools they came from. This is one of the main reasons why leadership trainings are set in their freshmen year. The Ateneo LEX Freshmen Leadership Training Seminar (FLTS), provides an avenue for future Ateneo leaders to learn the other basic things needed to run a project or even an organization. This training seminar aims to guide and teach Lex members valuable leadership skills, project management skills, and administrative skills, which will not only be useful within their collegiate education, but also once they enter the workforce. If you are a freshman, get ready to join us, as we make you the leader that you were meant to be. ateneolex.org

MOCK COURT

The whole law school month experience that the Ateneo Lex will be offering would not be complete without letting the students feel the atmosphere inside a courtroom—to experience in a way what being an actual lawyer feels like. Since being a lawyer is the ultimate goal in going to law school, students who are interested in taking up law might as well take sneak peek of what they are planning to do for the rest of their lives. This is where there role of the Mock Court comes in. Offered by the Internal Affairs Department, the Mock Court aims to enable Legal Management students to apply what they have learned in their law courses, become introduced to legal writing and practice critical thinking through a competition where two panels will be defending their respective sides through arguments that will be evaluated and scored by judges who are real life practitioners in the field of law. Of course, students may also opt to participate in this experience as spectators and see a re-enactment of the atmosphere and actions of lawyers in court. The competition will begin with the presentation of a case to the teams. Each team will be assigned to defend the side of the petitioner or the respondent. They will be given enough time to write their memorials that will contain their arguments or points. These arguments will be later on presented to the judges and in front of an audience through an oral competition. The team that will be able to convey more convincing arguments will win. This oral competition is set to occur on September 14, 2012. What is different about this year’s Mock Court is the fact that it is already more exciting because it does not end only with the determination of the winning team of the Ateneo Lex on November 16, 2012. Participants who are Legal Management majors from other universities will be invited for an interschool Mock Court competition, also known as the external leg. This external leg will serve as a gauge to see how the skills and knowledge of Legal Management students from different schools are when put in a competition against each other. The Mock Court event is a real training ground for people who are interested in entering the field of the Law.

But wait… What is social entrepreneurship? What makes it unique from the regular businesses we know of? Want all these questions to be answered? Then join us in Ateneo Lex’s Exposure Trip on September! This year, a new project from the Ateneo Lex External Relations Department will be available for our Lex members. This will be a whole day exposure trip to Gawad Kalinga’s Enchanted Farm in Angat, Bulacan. Through this exposure trip, students will be introduced to the various social entrepreneurial businesses existing like Human Nature, Theo & Philo, Enchantea, etc. In partnership with FrontLine, this project aims to give the students a taste of social entrepreneurship through the varying activities prepared for by the team. Not only will the participants be able to have a firsthand experience of the community’s efforts towards social entrepreneurship but they will also get the chance to meet influential people from Gawad Kalinga such as Mr. Tony Melot, Gawad Kalinga chairman and founding father. BAZAAR 1: SALE AHOY!

This coming sembreak, Ateneo Lex brings you its first bazaar for the year at Tiendesitas People’s Village. From October 19 to 20, 2012 (Friday and Saturday) the event will be filled with stalls selling clothes, accessories, different types of merchandise, snacks, and other goodies. Sale Ahoy! aims to provide the shoppers an ultimate shopping experience. There will be a grand raffle draw at the end of the bazaar with GCs and other prizes to be given away. The theme was derived from the idea that since Halloween season is near and that the first semester just ended, shoppers will be needing their much awaited retail therapy. What better way to explore a new project than by venturing to an outside market? The Finance department aims to execute this project as one of its flagship events, and looks to pursuing similar type of projects in the future. Sale Ahoy! will launch this new track for Ateneo Lex, and shall serve as a defining point of whether projects like this should be executed again or not. Sale Ahoy! is a big-scaled event, so promotion shall be done early on. If you are interested in how big bazaars work, then it would be good to be involved with this project. Not only will you learn the processes involved in handling such an event, but you will also get to personally talk with different business owners from established brands or online stores. LMEX: DLSU

OCTOBER NOVEMBER

What really lies beneath the UAAP rivalry? If you’re ready to find out first hand, well, LMEx: DLSU is the right event for you. LMEx stands for for Legal Management Exchange, and as the title suggests, we are to have Legal Management students from different universities “exchange” universities. This exchange is between the schools Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University. Under the Externals department, one of the main goals of this project is to give both Ateneans and Lasallians new views and learn more about each other’s schools. With this, we can create lasting bonds with students from the different universities. The foundation for future partnerships both in the academe and in the workforce will hopefully be built here. This year’s LMEx:DLSU is expected to occur on November 10 & 17, 2012. It is a two-part event, the first part being the visit of Lasallians to Ateneo, with the second part being Ateneans going to La Salle. This is your opportunity to learn how the other side lives. YOUR opportunity to see and experience the “Taft Life”, YOUR opportunity to erase the stereotypes that have been set for us and learn from them. Are you ready to embark on a journey to Taft? How do you think they’d fare in our environment? Don’t miss out on all the fun! There’s more to green than you might think.

LMEX: DLSU 2011

The Second General Assembly happens a few days before one of the Lex’s biggest projects for the year, the Lex PARTY! This project aims to gather around the members of the organization and welcome them back after the long break they just had. Re-integration is just one of the main objectives of this event. This assembly is meant to introduce them to the line-up of projects Ateneo Lex offers for the second semester so that they can know what projects to participate in. Moreover, this assembly aims to show the members how fun it is to be a part of Ateneo Lex and the privileges they will receive through being an active member. FUSION

For the first time ever in the history of Lex, the home organization of Legal Management students will get to experience Fusion, the first of the planned annual open parties under Lex. Fusion is the flagship party series of Lex which will hold open parties in the years to come. Led by the Finance Department under Vice President Fidea Encarnacion, the party aims to attain three objectives that will prove to be beneficial to the Lex organization. First, the party aims to raise funds for the organization. Secondly, Fusion is geared towards increasing organization exposure to people within and outside of the organization. Finally, the party aims to increase awareness on the activities and overall goals of the organization. Raising funds for the organization will offer fLexibility for upcoming members of Lex and will provide more opportunities for its future projects, paving the way not only for future Fusion parties, but other events as well. The fact that Fusion is an open party will certainly increase organization exposure for Lex as it aims to be one of the premier organizations for non-academic related social events inside and outside of Ateneo. By promoting this event to students from other universities, Fusion hopes not only to promote awareness of Lex to Lex members and students of the Ateneo, but also to serve as an avenue for Ateneo Lex to be known beyond our own campus. Beyond this, however, the goal of every party is to have fun, meet new people, and simply enjoy the moment. With its captivating Aztec theme, Fusion will provide all of its attendees a chance to seize the night, capture every exhilarating instant, enjoy the night (with free flowing drinks, of course!), dance the night away with your friends and meet new ones as well! Fusion will be held on November 23, 2012 at Silver City, Frontera Dr., Pasig City, Metro Manila (right beside Tiendesitas, behind SM Hypermart). Hope to see you there!

LS SALE

Legal Management LS Sale is a small bazaar that will be held at the LS Promenade on the 19th up to the 23rd of November. Concessionaires at this bazaar will be limited to Ateneo students, giving priority to LM students to showcase their business acumen and salesmanship skills, unlike the Major Sales which are open to outside concessionaires. It is also another project under the Finance Department, which primarily aims to generate funding for the whole organization. Aside from earning money to help generate funds for other Lex projects, this minor sale will be an avenue for the students, especially for the seniors’ LS groups, to operate and market their businesses and also be able to earn something from it. This weeklong event invites everybody to visit the different stalls and support their friends and orgmates in their business ventures. ateneolex.org

CORPORATE AFFAIRS CAREER BUILDING

Ateneo Lex may well be known as a law-focused organization but not all of its members are heading into that career path. There are still quite a number of students who want to enter the corporate world after graduating in the Ateneo. As this may be a big leap for some students, Ateneo Lex wants to prepare its members on how to handle their first interviews with confidence and poise. Ateneo Lex wants to make sure that its members are one step ahead of the others, not only in terms of academic capacity, but also in confidence, and in experience. In order to answer this need, the organization has created the project, Corporate Affairs Career Building to help students with their post-graduation woes. Corporate Affairs Career Building is one of the newest projects of the Internal Affairs Department that will take place this coming school year, on the 11th of January 2013. An esteemed panel of speakers will be invited to give the participants a focused group discussion on their expertise, thus providing them a competitive edge in pursuing their aspirations in entering a business career. This project will help participants to be equipped with critical tips and skills regarding resume writing, proper interview decorum and networking tips. More than that, the participants can share their thoughts and concerns with the experts so that there may be answers to all the questions they were afraid to ask before. Through this project, the organization hopes to be recognized not only as a law-oriented organization but also as a business-oriented group. We hope that through this project, more students of the Ateneo will be enticed to join the organization in the coming school years. By hearing about projects like Corporate Affairs Career Building, the organization is sure that more students belonging to Legal Management will be attracted to join the organization because it lets them have the freedom to decide which future they want to have.

INTERNSHIP PROTOCOL: WEDGE THE EDGE!

Ever wondered what it’s like working in the corporate world? A great way to get the gist of it is through internships. It’s better to have a taste of it first—in order to prepare—before plunging into the real thing. Competition for jobs is getting stiff and many companies look beyond your academic qualifications, and into your practical skills and capabilities. One way to spice up your resume and catch their attention is to get yourself into an internship program! It’s time for you to get that edge. You might think you know the ABCs in internships but there’s more to that. For those who have required hours, it’s much more than completing it. Now, offering you that edge, the internals department of Ateneo Lex presents... “Internship Protocol: Wedge the Edge!” In partnership with Ateneo Placement Office, our event will feature 3 executives and 2 interns from different companies offering the best internship programs. It is only fitting for the best to learn from the best! Get enlightened about their experiences and certain things beyond the classroom setting. They will give you tips and teach you the ins and outs of various internship programs. It’s a very rare opportunity you don’t want to miss. We are inviting you... So don’t forget! Come and visit us on January 14, 2013 at the Ching Tan Room (SOM 111) from 4:30-6:00 pm and join us in our mission to Wedge the Edge of your life! ateneolex.org

TAMBAY WEEK 2

TARA LEX! In the Ateneo Lex, we give the word “Tambay” a new meaning. For us, there’s no such thing as too much “tambay” as long as you’re with this year’s one of a kind Lex family. If the Ateneo academic requirements are already taking their toll on you, well there is only one thing to do. COME TAMBAY WITH US! Need help on your subjects? Feeling sleepy coming from an all-nighter, or maybe you just want to talk and play to take your mind off something? Then we just have the place for you! We would like to invite you to go to TAMBAY WEEK 2! Freshies! If you’re wondering what Tambay Weeks are in the Ateneo, it’s basically a venue where members of the organization are highly encouraged to spend time getting to know each other more by participating in different activities for 5 days. It’s a venue where you can chill, study, talk, and be rowdy inside the Ateneo with your friends within the organization. Every year we organize 2 Tambay Weeks, because the org wants all of its members to be comfortable with each other. And what other way to make the vibe more familial by gathering us together in one roof! During those stressful days of January 14 – 18, Tambay Week 2 will be there to make it all better. Trust us, you’ll enjoy every minute you spend with us. With all the programs we have planned for you, surely it would make you love this organization. C’mon. Let’s admit it, even if we are in college already, many of us are still kids at heart. Thus we have in store for you different games that you can play like board games, video games, Family Feud, Tetris Battle competition and many more! If you’re an avid fan of sitcoms, everyday of that week, we will have a film viewing of some of the most popular “Barkada themed” TV series. While you’re reading this, surely you are already starting to imagine what this project would look like. So what are you waiting for? On January 14-18, you now know what to do! Tara, Tara LEX! If there’s one thing you would learn in the Ateneo Lex is that it’s ALWAYS EXCELLENT, NEVER MEDIOCRE. *WARNING: One serious requirement though……………….SMILE! Don’t miss out! It’s going to be LEGEN- Wait for it!..........DARY! TRUE STORY! ;)

ENTREPRENEURSHIP TALK

At any point in your life have you ever thought of running your own business? I am sure you have. In fact a study performed by Kauffman Foundation shows that 4 out of 10 young people want to start their own business. Another study shows that 87% of the young people nowadays wanted to be their own boss. With those numbers in mind, it is safe for us to assume that even you, at some point in your life wanted to start your own business. Just like most career paths there are both potential rewards as well as inevitable challenges faced by aspiring entrepreneurs. It is these problems that separate them from being a successful entrepreneur and a dreamer. These problems are often about risks and only successful entrepreneurs can share their own experiences and inspire others. In response to this need for experience and inspiration, this year the Ateneo Lex proudly introduces Entrepreneurship Talk. Through this talk it is hoped that college students, specifically Lex members, can enjoy the privilege of interacting with different renowned entrepreneurs our country has. This project will serve as an introduction for the Ateneo students to the path of entrepreneurship. Besides this, the project will also present Ateneo Lex as an org not just of law, but also of business. In order to maximize the time for the speakers to share their experiences in depth, we plan on having two speakers with long and varied experiences in the field of entrepreneurship. By having very different speakers, the audience will be able to grasp a more holistic understanding of what it really takes to be a successful entrepreneur. Our plan is to have the first speaker as a start-up entrepreneur, while the second will be a seasoned and established businessman. This is in order to cater to questions in both the beginning and growth stages of a business. With this project, we hope to be able to contribute to not just LEX as an organization, but impart wisdom with its members.

ALUMNI NIGHT

The Alumni Night will be the first ever project of the Externals Department that will bring together Lex Alumni to bond with the present Lex Members. This event will happen on February 16, 2013 at 6pm-12am and will be held outside the school premises. It is the external department’s hope that bonds and links will be established and ties will be created with both Lex Alumni and other attendees, as the event will be open to the public. Food and drinks will be served, accompanied by relaxing music. Roaming photographers will also be present so that every moment will be captured. Heading towards a new horizon and a new chapter for Lex members, new friendships will be created and it will be a night to remember. Group dynamics and exciting activities are prepared to entertain the guests and all the participants, as well as to serve as an ice breaker. The Project Managers are hoping to see many Lex members to join the fun and celebrate with the Lex alumni the continuous guidance and help of LM students’ home org, the Ateneo Lex. It would also be very nice to reminisce the past years of Lex and see how Lex has evolved into something so powerful as to create good leaders by honing their skills and pushing them to the limits. It is also a night of giving gratitude to the people behind the façade of the Lex logo—the EBs for the past years. Indeed, it will be a night of smiles and gratitude.

LEX ON THE BEACH 5.0

FEBRUARY

Lex On The Beach is an annual event held by the organization as the school year’s culminating activity. This highly anticipated year ender serves as a venue for its members to interact with each other in an environment that is relaxed, stressfree, and most importantly, enjoyable. Keeping with the LEX tradition of ingenuity and uniqueness, LOTB aims to create an atmosphere of togetherness by means of a pool party. This would truly be a one of a kind experience within the plethora of options of social gatherings in the Ateneo. The night’s events will include a variety of programs, activities, and contests, not to mention a fashion show that will potentially feature both the latest trends in summer fashion and fellow LEX members strutting their stuff on the catwalk. The main event, however, is when we acknowledge true LEX leadership and passion as we showcase the year’s exemplary members, giving them the recognition that they truly deserve. LOTB 5.0 serves as LEX’s final project under the Human Resources department, as it brings together all LEX members, both new and old, freshman to senior, in celebration of past achievements and in anticipation of new ones. This event will be held on March 23, 2013. So mark your calendars, ‘cause this is one pool party that is not to be missed!

YEAR-LONG LEX MUSICIANS POOL

Once the biggest projects of the Finance department, the Musicians Pool has its roots in the Caroling project that toured Quezon City throughout December to serenade families in their homes with Christmas classics. Now, however, our singers are here not just to promote the Christmas spirit, but the spirit of music itself. For the first time, the Ateneo Lex Musicians Pool will last year-round, and you’ll see them every major event such as the General Assemblies and Tambay Weeks. Of course, the caroling season remains, beginning in late November and ending before the Christmas break. We’d love to serenade you in your house or party, so please accept our invitations to carol! The Musicians pool will also, for the first time, be having its own Valextine Concert – for free – as the culminating activity of the Valextine sale in February! In addition to this, the Musicians Pool will also be holding weekly jamming sessions and even promotions by recording our musicians on video and spreading their talent through the Internet. And if the circumstances warrant it, there shall also be an album where you can also hear our singers and musicians’ talents frozen in time, forever to be enjoyed and cherished! We’re looking for members now, so if you’re interested – be it as a singer, guitarist, keyboardist, drummer, violinist, anything musical! – come and audition for us! We love the sharing of talent!

LEX ONLINE SHOP

With the digital world we live in, it’s only fitting that LEX has chosen to get with the times; which is why this year’s Finance department is bringing you our very own LEX Online Shop! Through this new online enterprise, LEX members will now have easy access to LEX merchandise (such as LEX Shirts, LEX Lanyards etc.); thus avoiding the hassle of waiting for LEX Sales or bazaars to get their LEX fix. This online shop will be open all year long so you’d be able to place your orders at your time. We’re also eliminating the hassle of waiting in line and the unfortunate possibility of a shortage of merchandise because the customer (aka you!) will be able to complete your purchase quickly and easily. Plus, you would be able to browse through all of our items for sale at the comfort of your home or computer. We will also be able to utilize this online shop for other purposes, such as holding auctions, contests and promos for LEX items and other merchandise. We’re merely at the tip of the iceberg as to the possibilities that this venture has to offer so be prepared to see a lot more from us this year!
