WORKPLACES, CAMPUSES + BUILDING AMENITIES

Reebok Headquarters 220,000 sf Boston MA Role: Design Director @ Gensler To strengthen their identity as the premier fitness brand, Reebok made a transformative decision to relocate from a sprawling suburban campus to an urban headquarters in Boston’s Seaport District. The 5-story, 220,000-square-foot building is designed to attract top-tier talent, energize its innovation and maker culture, and amplify its global brand visibility. Reebok’s new headquarters stretches five full bays and accommodates 750 people in an activity-based workplace. The building’s industrial bones have become a canvas for showcasing product and people, providing a stage from which Reebok can live and promote their brand.

Forcepoint Cyberexperience & Briefing Center 29,500 sf Boston MA Role: Interior Design Director @ Gensler A cross-collaboration between Workplace and Digital Experience Design, the Forcepoint Cyberexperience and Briefing Center was conceived as a place for Forcepoint to invite, showcase, engage and educate it’s key prospects + clients on the advantages of their proprietary cybersecurity software. Phase One defined the new customer experience, creating this hybrid typology: part briefing center + immersive digital theater + client hospitality space + work-lounge spread over 2 floors. Phase Two was completed for additional workspaces on the remaining 3 floors of this brick and beam building, supporting both the briefing center as well as a “Center of Excellence” for talent recruitment.

Catalant Headquarters 10,000 sf Boston MA Role: Design Director @ Gensler Catalant’s unique platform connects global businesses to some of the world’s best talent for on-demand work. With the increasing competition for talent, Catalant recognized the importance of place-making and its role in fostering workforce engagement, stimulating employee productivity, and allowing their culture to flourish. The Catalant workplace is an open-sourced, adaptable, and high-performance environment that allows the organization to continually evolve while retaining the core elements vital to their culture. Their new home is comprised of four quadrants: Immersion Lab, Catalant Cafe, Zen Lounge, and Workplace Arena. Boasting a playfully professional vibe, the workplace features a variety of work settings within each zone. The work-anywhere concept includes clusters of lounge seats, breakout benches, window perch bar, focus pods, and other hackable seats throughout the space.

Staples eCommerce Lab 6,000 sf Boston MA Role: Design Director @ Gensler Conceived as a talent magnet, we worked directly with the Chief Technology Office (CTO) to create a flexible workspace for the Staples suburban campus. Located in a historic building in the heart of Boston, the 6,000 sf workspace was one of a series done for Staples: Cambridge, MA and San Jose, CA in addition to this location. Each of the eCommerce labs were designed to be high performing and “hyper local” workplaces, to compete for top tier talent. Here, exposed ceilings and brick walls contrast with high end residential millwork, finishes and furniture typical of a traditional Beacon Hill town home. Open office, work-lounges and flexible work-play spaces are surrounded by glass fronted offices, work bar perches, and meeting rooms with garage doors that open for “all-hands” meetings. A collaboration with the ArtLifting artist Allen Chamberland, was the genesis of the bespoke black and white wall covering derived from several of his original prints. https://www.artlifting.com/collections/allen-chamberland

The Foundation Lounge @ 225 Franklin St (Phase 1) 10,000 sf Boston MA Role: Design Director @ Gensler The Foundation, is a sophisticated amenity space designed to attract new tenants to 225 Franklin in downtown Boston. Housed in the building’s abandoned basement, this multi-purpose amenity center provides tenants with the opportunity to work, gather, and socialize in a sleek, subterranean, hospitality setting. The basement club contrasts the unique rawness of the space with a chic and comfortable interior, complete with a lively common area, large kitchen/bar, golf simulators, coffee bar, bike storage room, spa locker rooms, and versatile meeting rooms. Phase 1 of 3 phases of work for this client, Oxford Properties.

The Lobby @ 225 Franklin St (Phase 3 ) 5,000+/- sf Boston MA Role: Design Director @ Gensler Phase 3 was completed with the install of a custom rug, furniture groupings, plants and commissioned art in the lobby as well as renovation of the typical elevator lobbies with designs that recall The Foundation Lounge. Acting more like a hotel lobby than an office lobby, instantly, The Lobby at 225 Franklin became a neighborhood beacon, a hangout spot inviting visitors to stop in and work, meet and gather. Oxford Properties President Michael Turner declared this “the best lobby in their portfolio and subsequent strategy work was completed to distill the magic formula that is the experience @ 225 Franklin St.

MathWorks, Lakeside Campus 550,000 sf Natick, MA Role: Interior Design Director @ Gensler MathWorks, expanded their headquarters with a new campus for 2,500 + new employees. We worked closely with MathWorks on the development strategy and provided master planning, architectural, and interior design for the ground up 550,000-square-foot complex. The purpose-driven design for the new campus creates an experience that inspires the work process and builds organizational community. Comfortably scaled workplace wings are organized around a central communal hub and sky-lit spiral stair. Amenities include a fitness + health and wellness hub, conference wing, dining hall, grab-and-go cafe, and outdoor terrace. Throughout the campus, spaces are designed to maximize natural light and indoor/outdoor connections.

Confidential Digital Media HQ 240,000 sf Boston, MA Role: Lead Designer @ Elkus Manfredi 240,000 sf combination of renovated and new build class A office space was re-invented to house several digital agencies. Key challenges for project are co-location of different brands in same space while maintaining singular brand identities, embedding digital media deep into the conceptual story, moving office culture from open office to agile workplace and change management for overall project. Confidential client and location.

WS Development 50,000 sf Chestnut Hill, MA Role: Lead Designer @ Elkus Manfredi Retail developer - WS Development - relocated their Headquarters in a second floor office space over retail in Chestnut Hill. Design brief involved moving the employees from a private office culture to open office culture. An amenity rich environment with retail showcase area on the reception floor, appeals to both employees and potential retail tenants.

Union Trust Building Building Repositioning 470,000 sf Pittsburgh, PA Role: Lead Designer @ Elkus Manfredi Located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh, this Neo-Gothic jewel has been re-invented for her next century. Working with the developer, The David Companies, a series of amenity-rich environments were created to attract a new type of tenant. Confidential Residential Client Kitchen Remodel 500 sf South Hamilton, MA Role: Interior Designer Kitchen remodel for center entrance garrison Colonial in a chic suburban neighborhood. Built in 1959, a late 1970’s renovation was terribly out of date. The new remodel marries the original scale of the 1959 house and embraces the kitchen’s contemporary uses. A massive center island with seating, two-tone painted cabinets, new windows in the dining area and ceiling skylights add in function, space and light. Classic-style millwork cabinets, signature modern lighting and a refined palette gives fresh life to this kitchen for decades to come.

SCAPE/Children’s Hospital Family Housing 819 Beacon St Boston, MA Role: Interior Design Director @ Gensler Proposal for SCAPE and Children’s Hospital Family Housing.
