Tolkien was best known for his epic fantasies Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and his studies in myth and language. But Tolkien was also the proud dad of four kids - and he didn’t just read The Hobbit to them at bedtime. Over the course of many years, he wrote and illustrated detailed, whimsical letters from Father Christmas, populated with a clumsy polar bear, elves and goblins. Janet Croft from the University of Oklahoma will introduce children and parents to these beautifully Illustrated Christmas Letters. Please preregister. Gingerbread House Decorating Dec 17 | Mon | 10:30-11:15a Kids of all ages Come decorate a gingerbread house at the library.
