Adam Warren was a nonroster invitee to spring training and although he allowed eight runs in 15 innings, there was a road start against the Red Sox that opened some eyes in the Yankee organization. Over the last 10 seasons, six starting running backs have sustained ACL tears. Players that sustained the injury early in the season, such as Jamal Lewis and Deuce McAllister, were able to return the following season and post useful lines. But backs that went down later in
the year (Terrell Davis, Edgerrin James, Kevin Smith), were utterly inept. Adrian Peterson tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus in Week 16 last season, yet his average draft position still sits in the second round. History proves the Peterson name isn’t worth that risk as workload reductions and knee complications lurk.
Not burning The Falcons are ready to overhaul their offense under new coordinator Dirk Koetter. The days of Michael Turner slamming his oversized thighs/stomach into the line 350 times are over and the era of vertical passing/screens is in session. Still, Turner is still being selected in the third round because owners remember him as “The Burner.” Bad idea.
