GIVING OPPORTUNITIES: Capital Fund: NWR is building the Baldwin Wildlife Center and Hubbard Family

• Is the wildlife partner for the Nebraska Humane Society.

Wildlife Hospital in the heart of Omaha, and hopes to open by summer 2021. Donations to the Keep Nebraska Wild campaign will help pay for renovations of the new building and will give Nebraska one of the best wildlife rehabilitation hospitals in the country! EBRASKA WILDLIFE REHAB has a two-fold mission: To rescue, rehabilitate, and release native and migratory wild animals back into the wild and to educate people on how to live in harmony with wildlife and inspire them to take action to protect it. Each year, NWR receives more than 7,000 wild animals needing skilled medical and rehabilitative care and returns them to the wild and handles more than 12,000 telephone calls and e-mail inquiries from the public. NWR also:

• Trains and advises staff of NHS and other animal control agencies on how to safely and humanely handle wildlife calls.

Operating Funds: In our new Wildlife Center in Omaha, we will have additional staff and a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital. Your donation of operating funds will help ensure that we always have the staff and resources to respond to the needs of our community!

• Works with students in eight middle schools and two elementary schools each week, teaching the importance of our native wildlife and ecosystems, and helping them develop a relationship with nature.

Wildlife Medical Fund: Started in memory of NWR volunteer Heather Johnson, this ensures that the unique medical needs of wildlife patients are always met. With your support, NWR can save as many wild animals as possible and return them to a life in the wild.

• Hosts a High School Science Academy, providing a unique opportunity for high school students to partner with university professors, exploring advanced topics in biology.

Wildlife Education Programs: Innovative education programs are a critical part of NWR’s mission. Funding for our out-of-school-time program through Collective for Youth, our High School Science Academy, and University Internship Program keeps these programs in our schools and brings resources to students throughout the state.

• Has a University Internship Program that gives students the opportunity to gain skills in veterinary medicine, wildlife management, animal husbandry, and other fields. • Provides dozens of other education programs for school and community groups each year.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

• Takes referrals from zoos, nature centers, veterinarians and government agencies to rescue and provide aid for wild animals.

(Training for volunteer positions will resume in the summer of 2021.)
