HAT A YEAR!

HARE OMAHA TURNS ONE YEAR OLD in January 2020, and what a year it’s been! Thousands of givers throughout the Omaha metro have bookmarked SHAREomaha.org as their home for connecting with 400-plus nonprofits. These Do-Gooders are continually volunteering, donating, attending events and supporting local organizations that connect their passion to action.

Also, SHARE Omaha rallied the community around Giving Tuesday for a metrowide Do-Good takeover in 2019. This will return in 2020 as a localized movement to both the greater Omaha (GivingTuesday402.org) and Council Bluffs/southwest Iowa (GivingTuesday712.org) metro areas.

The organization’s mission is to help nonprofits fulfill their missions through raising more support and service among the giving public. SHARE Omaha champions “everyday philanthropy.” Its website makes it easy to respond to that cause or burning community need resonating with you, your family or your business. SHARE Omaha’s vision is for the metro area to feel empowered and equipped every day to make a difference.

Nonprofits have known and sporadically used the international Giving Tuesday event for their fourth-quarter needs, but not until last year did this movement feel localized and promote all acts of goodness: donations, drives, volunteerism and acts of kindness. Proclaiming the event as a Do-Good takeover certainly raised the awareness of community needs during the critical end-of-year time frame for missions across the region and activated Do-Gooders to help in the way most meaningful to them personally.

The prime differentiator SHARE Omaha organizers have seen in what they offer the Omaha and Council Bluffs region comes from volunteer interest and connections. This year, a campaign dedicated to volunteerism dubbed Do-Good Month will transpire in April. Be on the lookout for messages, suggestions and special events all planned to ignite connections between you and the causes of your choice.

Find your fit and connect your passions to action at SHAREomaha.org.

One of the key ways SHAREomaha.org increases opportunities to apply skills to nonprofit needs is through a volunteer opportunity filtering system.
