Baillie Property A Community Heritage site Since 1997

Our story begins at a crossroad of time and place, where old west meets new country, and breathtaking scenery and time-honoured traditions are woven into the fabric of our lives. In a land carved by hand and cultivated by hard work, we’ve been welcoming travellers since long before there were highways. Discover our world, where the simple things in life still mean something, where our unbridled country spirit fuels the sense of adventure we can’t wait to share with others. Come on by and join us for an afternoon or a weekend — you might just want to call Merritt home.

Go On… Get Outside and Play

Rolling bunch grass meadows meet the rugged ridge of the Coastal Mountain range, rising over our sun-drenched valley, creating a natural backdrop for outdoor adventures.

We learn to fish and ride as soon as we can walk around here, making us pretty savvy about bait and lures, quads and trails – come along for the ride – we’ll show you how it’s done. Join us on your mountain bike cutting through the trees, grinding along jagged trails just minutes from the city centre. Drink in the fragrance of fresh alfalfa and sagebrush winding your ATV through undulating fields in Canada’s new old west. Ride the open range on your trusty steed – this one fuelled by pure adrenaline and torqued by horsepower. Or head off on your own to kick back and drop a line in the water. Merritt is famous for having a “lake a day, as long as your stay.” With over 200 freshwater lakes and streams teeming with Rainbow trout and Kokanee, freshwater fishing is legendary around here.

Visitors are welcome to bring a lunch and enjoy a picnic in our garden. Afterward you can take a free tour of the Baillie property and experience a glimpse of Merritt`s early history. Free coffee, tea, iced tea & lemonade. Local gifts, crafts, souvenirs & collectibles available all year.

The property is now home to the Merritt Visitor Information Booth. We can provide you information on anything you desire: community events, sports, recreation, swimming spots, etc. e-mail: bailliehouse@shaw.ca or Visit our website at www.bailliehouse.com 2250 Voght St. Merritt, BC
