Snap (16)

Mon 29 Aug @ 8pm

Single mother of one Sharon has invited a documentary crew into her house to ‘set the record straight’. It’s obvious from the off that she doesn’t want them to be there but the caustic Sharon knows that it’s a necessary evil. At first it’s not clear what she has to clear up, but soon it’s revealed that three years ago her teenage son, the disturbed Stephen, kidnapped a toddler and kept him captive for five days in his grandfather’s house. The media circus that followed turned its ire on Sharon, who retreated into depression. Half mockumentary and half straight drama Snap builds to a powerful but twisty climax that encourages one to rethink what they’ve just witnessed. Waiting for Ikea

Thu 1 & Fri 2 Sep @ 8pm

‘Recession? Is dat a new fragrance by Calvin Klein’? Chrissie and Jade spend their days waiting; waiting for the postman, waiting for the kettle to boil and waiting for Coronation Street and they won’t shop in Argos ‘cos we’re waiting for IKEA’. Set in the heart of ‘new’ Dublin, where night wear is day wear and bitching is everywhere. Nothing much changes in Pimlico, each day begins and ends the same; it’s what happens in between that keeps the neighbours interested. This heart-warming story of friendship, family, community and sun bed obsessives, will appeal to friends of all ages with its unforgettable characters and colourful language. Premiered at the 2007 Dublin Fringe Festival, the first show in the history of the Festival to sell out in advance of opening. €16/€14 Conc.
