Keep Mercy Near
CELEBRATE PHILANTHROPY
In these uncommon times, Merion Mercy Academy set out to be a point of connection and a source of optimism. We have created a platform, “Keep Mercy Near,” where community members were able to share information to promote their businesses, submit a story about a health care provider, and/or spread the word about ways to help others.

Marian Hickey McNaughton ’72 suspended her business to make face masks to donate to a local hospital in Lewes, DE. Ammascottage.com halted all embroidery and bag making efforts and moved into making face masks. Her sister Bebe Hickey ’68 and Bebe’s partner cut the patterns, and son Charlie McNaughton donated the head straps he made on his 3D printer.

Dr. Katie Stroup ’98 and Dr. Courtney Dominic ’05 reported from St. Christopher’s Hospital in North Philadelphia, “We are fortunate to work with each other and with wonderful colleagues to support the North Philadelphia community. Our hospital also has a Medical-Legal Partnership with the Legal Clinic for the Disabled, and the Attorney Director is Merion alumna Theresa Brabson ’05.”

At the start of the stay-at-home order, Barbara Colantuono Harrison ’82, Alumnae Relations Coordinator, helped to prepare and deliver lunches for Saint John’s Hospice. In just a few weeks, the team had provided lunch for more than 500 people. They continued this outreach initiative into the summer months.
