about Merida Many years ago our Taiwanese founder, Ike Tseng, visited the USA where he noticed a sign in a bike shop stating that Taiwanese made bikes would not be repaired due to their poor quality. He made it his mission to change that perception.
R&d Our German based R&D team are constantly developing the next generation of bikes. With state-ofthe-art in-house test labs, extensive workshops and many hours of riding, they create, test and refine new frame concepts. Our designers work in close collaboration with our pro athletes to optimise the range.
MERIDA was founded in 1972; Me-rida roughly translates as ‘the intention to manufacture only beautiful and high quality products enabling anyone to reach their destination as pleasantly as possible.’ Ike changed the face of bicycle manufacturing, establishing Taiwan as a global leader. Today, we continue to follow the ethos of the brand, producing up to 1.5 million high quality MERIDA bikes a year, as well as those for another industry leader.
