The excitement is palpable the first week of school! It’s fun to reconnect with friends, swap summer stories, and get ready for a great new year. Of course we met new friendly faces in the Class of 2023 and in the faculty including Head of School Natalie Cirigliano Brosnan. WELCOME BACK! Students & faculty gathered for Orientation and the start of school in August

Mercy welcomed freshmen students to campus with fun traditions, led by Claire Rietmann-Grout ‘04, As sistant Head of School for Student Life, and Mercy’s upper class Link Crew, our student-led orientation leadership team.

The Community gathered in the Mercy Chapel for the Mass of the Holy Spirit to come together and set our intention for the year.

The back-to-school energy and excitement was on full display at our Welcome Rally! It introduced our new students and faculty to the enthusiasm of the Mercy community and student sisterhood.

Family Tradition Senior Reagan Sammons ’20 welcomed her cousins, Olivia Langridge ’23 and Isabella Musich ’23, to Mercy - all third generation Mercy girls! It is exciting to see the legacy of Mercy education being passed on to the next generation. MERCY DAY A cherished, time-honored tradition, Mercy Week celebrates our Sister of Mercy heritage and foundress Catherine McAuley who opened the first House of Mercy in Ireland in 1827. Every year our faculty and students plan events, activities, and a Mass to reflect on the Sisters' charism that drives our community, including the Sisters of Mercy's Critical Concerns. This year, we focused on the topic of Women - exploring specifically what it means to be a confident woman in today's world.

The morning's beautiful liturgy was centered on the idea of 'home,' a place where you belong. Our speakers emphasized that strength and faith are fed by a sense of community. They encouraged us to treasure the Mercy Sisterhood - the bonds we share with one another and the women who came before us.

We were blessed to have many Mercy alumnae come 'home' to conduct workshops with students on topics ranging from budgeting and finance, to networking, car maintenance, and cooking skills.

Of course, Mercy Day concluded with a spirited rally on the Green! We loved having our alumnae stay to celebrate with us, and we were filled with gratitude for our Mercy community and sisterhood.

HEAD OF SCHOOL BBQ Natalie Cirigliano Brosnan welcomed new and returning parents at the annual Head of School Welcome BBQ in August. It was wonderful to see parents meeting and mingling with old friends and making new ones. Mercy is proud of our vibrant, close-knit parent community. Thank you to Emergency BBQ (Sowers family, Meaghan ‘21) for the delicious spread at the event.

MERCY-A-THON Mercy held its 25th Annual Student Fundraiser during Mercy Week 2019! The annual student fundraiser (formerly the Walk-A-Thon, Bowl-A-Thon, and Dance-AThon), now called Mercy-A-Thon, was held at Sky High Sports in Burlingame (owned by the family of alumna Nicole Manning ‘17). The day was filled with dodgeball tournaments, class competitions, a live DJ, arcade games, acrobatics, and of course lots of jumping and laughter. Our students raised nearly $80,000 to benefit programs like Campus Ministry, Athletics, and Student Life. One of the direct outcomes of Mercy-A-Thon ‘19 fundraising was the installation of two new water stations in Russell Hall - supporting Mercy’s mission of caring for the environment and reducing plastic waste.
