Living the Mission through

STUDENTS TOUR MERCY CENTER In celebration of National Catholic Sisters Week in March, the Sisters of Mercy opened their Convent doors to Mercy Religion classes for a guided tour. Sr. Judy Carle, Sr. Judy Cannon, Sr. Bernie, Sr. Jean, Sr. Ellen and Sr. Joan Marie took the girls through the chapel, convent, and even an unoccupied bedroom for a glimpse into the physical and spiritual lives of the Sisters. The experience was meant to help students understand what being a Sister of Mercy was all about and how they answer the call to serve. Sr. Ellen pointed out meaningful spaces, Icons, and art, telling the students that, "We surround ourselves with beauty because it opens our hearts and minds to God, ourselves and one another ."

They attended two workshops - one held by Roy Petitfils, a Catholic author, speaker, and psychotherapist on the topic of stress and adolescence. In the second, Doug Tooke, a leader in youth ministry training, spoke about living an authentic life in Christ, and encouraged Mercy students to participate enthusiastically in their faith. The group also celebrated mass in the Anaheim Arena with Archbishop Gomez.
