Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Policy

1 Purpose

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are integral parts of Mercury’s culture Being inclusive of individuals with different backgrounds, views, experience and capability working together makes us stronger and better as an organisation. We are committed to recruiting and retaining people who respect each other, our customers and our stakeholders and have a broad range of skills, experiences and frames of reference to drive innovation, deliver improved financial performance and to help us to achieve our ambition.

Diversity at Mercury refers to the elements that make people similar or different from one another, including background, views, experiences, capabilities, values, beliefs, religion, physical differences, disability, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity or expression, age, sexual orientation, thinking styles, and behaviours. We are committed to a workforce that is diverse and representative of the communities we operate within and for.

Equity at Mercury refers to our acknowledgement of the challenges or advantages that create unequal starting points for our people We are committed to addressing and, where possible, remedying that imbalance to create equitable outcomes that acknowledge the different needs people have An equitable environment at Mercury is one where we identify and remove barriers and inequities in our policies, processes, and environment, and provide opportunities to overcome systemic disadvantages.

Inclusion at Mercury refers to our focus on removing any perceived or tangible barriers to becoming a part of our business, feeling a sense of belonging, being treated fairly and respectfully, and having equal access to opportunity. We seek to give everyone a voice so they can openly share the variety of thinking styles, backgrounds and capabilities that they have.

2 Our Principles

Our approach takes a strategic view that to build diversity, equity and inclusion at Mercury, we must align a variety of initiatives that enable and involve our people, build external partnerships, grow capability, and provide an environment and structure to support a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture The activity we undertake across these areas of focus is aligned to the following principles:

 attracting and retaining a talented workforce through increasing the diversity of the candidate pool and maintaining a recruitment strategy that is attractive to all candidates, and

 recognising the importance of investing in our people and communities to deliver equitable long-term outcomes.

3 Practical Application

This approach will be practically achieved across our business by:

 seeking to understand barriers which limit diversity, equity, and inclusion at Mercury,

 providing learning opportunities that raise awareness of the benefits of diversity, equity, and inclusion, improve understanding of the biases that hinder progress, and support leaders to create safe, supportive, and equitable spaces where team members of all backgrounds and experiences feel that they belong,

 ensuring our recruitment and selection, development and talent management approaches are equitable and enable inclusion and diversity at all levels,

 regularly reviewing and enhancing processes and policies to encourage greater flexibility and diversity and enable an inclusive and equitable environment where everyone can feel a sense of belonging,
