Johanna Wirtz-Woodworth, mother of Eli Woodworth â13, presents a portrait she painted of Mercersburg alumnus Stan Smoyer â30 to Head of School Douglas Hale. The portrait will hang in the Smoyer Tennis Center on campus. Smoyer died December 15 at his home in Princeton, New Jersey; look for an obituary in the next issue of Mercersburg.

Ken Steigelman and his wife, Carol, live in Cooperstown, New York, and Lighthouse Point, Florida. In September, Ken climbed Mount Marcy, which is the highest point in New York state (5,344 feet above sea level, in the Adirondacks). âIt wasnât pretty, but I got the job done and completed one of my âbucket listâ objectives,â he writes. âLife is good and we send greetings to all those â56ers still taking nourishment.â
