We started the school year 2015-2016 right, another year of learning has started for the Grade 4—Yudhistira class. Made up of 18 students, 13 boys and 5 girls, together they pave their way as they go over their 4th year in primary level.

For almost two months they have already discussed several topics from their different subjects. They conducted observations and had simple experiments for Science; answered worksheets and board works for Math; had grammar exercises for English; played sports for Physical Education and had other cognitive activities for each subjects.
The Grade 4 class is joined by one new student, Audwin. It was easy for him to adapt to the new environment and we helped him to get connected with others. Now they are all

Classroom Rules: The first week of the school year, the students were oriented of the things that they should and should not do when inside the premises of the school. But the rules were not spoken by the teacher; they were presented and enacted by those who follow it: the students.
Each student was assigned to present the rules that they need to follow or do inside the school. As for the 4th grade class, they were assigned to present what they need to
follow at the cafeteria during lunch and snack time. They showed how to fall in line orderly, to respect the sellers and helpers in the cafeteria and to practice the “no hats no play” during break times.
These rules were already familiar to the students but the sole purpose of the orientation is to remind them that the rules and regulations of the school are meant to be remembered and practiced; not forgotten..
ICAS Preparation The International Competitions and Assessment for Schools also known as ICAS is an international educational assessment from Australia that gives assessments in Science, Math, English and Computer to students who are interested to participate. Some Grade 5 students took the said assessment. To prepare the students, the school scheduled after-class review sessions for the different subjects. During these review sessions, students got to
know different techniques on how to answer multiple choice questions in a timepressured condition, experiences peer-to-peer reviewing, had discussions of more advanced concepts than what they learn in the daily classroom setting. Some of these participants of ICAS also have after-classes of their own interest but they were diligent enough to attend the review sessions regularly.
Open House Here at Mentari School Grand Surya, we don’t only strive to have good relationship with the students but also with the parents. This relationship was established last August 14th when parents of Grade 4 students got to meet their child’s teacher as well as get a glimpse of what the students will be taking on for the whole school
year. The agenda for the said open house are the different school policies, overview of the Grade 4 curriculum, different classroom activities and the selection of parent volunteers. We really appreciated the support of our parents especially to our parent volunteers namely Ibu Elly of Nanda and James.

Selected students from the Grade 5 class lead the assembly. The students showed their respect to the Indonesian flag as they sang the anthem and paid attention during the assembly.
