About Daddy issues, Oedypus AND NEMO
from FINS 2/2
„Find Nemo“ has been lying to us. In reality, if a mother clownfish is eaten, its mate changes sex completely and becomes a female, even laying eggs, researchers from University of Exeter in the UK have found.
Nemo, being the only other male, would therefore mate with his mother who has been his dad, Marlin, or now, Marlene.

To ensure the survival of the clownfish group, Marlin (Nemo‘s father) would have become Marlene, and mated with a younger male from the adolescent population already living on the anemone, researchers said.
The Oedipus complex is a psychoanalytic theory proposing that children have possessive sexual desires for their opposite-sex parent while viewing their same-sex parent as a rival and that the complex is resolved when children overcome their incestuous and competitive emotions and begin to view their same-sex parent as a role model.
Established by psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud in 1899, the theory is controversial.
