So there you have it, with the advent of the English Premiership, top players have more wealth than some Championship teams and as we’ve seen football is only a part of the money that can be earned. If a player is conscious of this then they can make some serious money and now I finally I know how I’ll get by in pension age, ‘son, where’s that football?’

For the FIFA World footballer of the year, the Ballon d’Or, Hazard was named as part of the 23 player list. It just shows how far Hazard has come when there is constant comparison with the 2 best players in the world – Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Everyone talks about Messi and Ronaldo but in Hazard, Chelsea has both those players in one.

- Ex-Chelsea forward Didier Drogba.

His scoring is probably the only thing that lets him down. Since 2011-12, Hazard has scored 42 goals in 113 games, that lags considerably behind Cristiano Ronaldo who has scored 133 in 120 games and Messi with 135 goals in 110. He’s only 22 though, and if he manages to score more then he can quickly become a legend. This season Hazard is showing his class on the international stage as well. His first games for Belgium were under whelming (much like Ronaldo and Messi’s international careers) but he’s now showing his skills, and with the World Cup coming up, then it’s excellent timing. Now that Hazard wears his favourite number 10 shirt, he’s giving his best performances for Belgium. The whole world lays at the feet of Eden Hazard, and at the age of 22 he can only get better and better. If he maintains his form then he can certainly steer Chelsea to a League title and make Belgium a very difficult team to play against in the World Cup. It should be an interesting 3 months.

He doesn’t feel any pressure but there’s no doubt that his current form means that it’s mounting before the World Cup, but he likes to be challenged. He admits that he takes it too easy when everything is going well, so having Mourinho as a coach is a godsend for him. He has now realized that he can be a world-class player, and that’s the big difference this season. We just hope the Belgium team can profit from what he’s learned at Chelsea.
