REPLACING YOUR GOLF GRIPS
By Travis Peters, Director of Outside Golf Services Believe it or not, wear and tear on your golf grips can have an adverse effect on your game. Sometimes you don’t realize how worn your grips are until they are replaced. Grips are what connect a golfer to their clubs. Over time, heat, sweat, UV rays, oils, and dirt can wear away at your grips. ◆
THE TELLS
If you know what to look for, it’s relatively easy to determine whether your grips are worn and need to be changed. When a grip looks shiny or is hard and cracking, it’s a good sign it needs to be repaired. You may notice extreme wear where their thumbs are placed on the top half of the grip.

HOW OFTEN
The frequency in which you have your clubs re-gripped is dependent on how often you golf, your grip pressure, the weather, and how or where you store your clubs. A good rule of thumb is to replace your grips each year. If you are an avid golfer, it is recommended that you re-grip your clubs two to three times a year. An avid golfer can be defined as someone who is on the course four times a week along with practice rounds. It is also recommended that all of your clubs are re-gripped at the same time so your grip is consistent.
