Home-Start: Matched Funding Award

Based in Meldreth, Home-Start Royston, Buntingford & South Cambridgeshire, has been supporting local families going through tough times for the past 39 years. The charity has just been awarded up to £10,000 of matched funding from the Four Acre Trust. Home-Start’s Scheme Manager, Sarah Mascall says: “We are seeing a surge in demand for family support at the moment, so we are so grateful for this crucial matched funding which will help us meet this increased demand for our services.” The award means that every donation that the charity receives between now and 31st December 2022 will be doubled by Four Acre Trust up to a limit of £10,000 in total. The Trust also stipulates that the donation must be a minimum of £500 per donor, must be from a new donor and must be donated by 31st December 2022. Host your very own Home-Start Party with Jude!

We are delighted to team up with the wonderful Jude Simpson again to bring you a new selection of ‘At Home with Jude Simpson’ events during October and November. Gather your family and friends, some drinks and nibbles to host one of Jude’s fantastic live gigs, where she will perform music, song, comedy and observational humour , all in the comfort of your own home. Who is Jude Simpson? Jude Simpson is our poet-in-residence

at Home-Start. She is a unique writer and entertainer, combining insightful observational comedy with poetry, rap and song to create an act that leaves audiences smiling, laughing and occasionally hungry! Jude has performed at various festivals, venues and theatres around the country, including the Edinburgh Festival, Cheltenham Literature Festival, Cambridge ADC Theatre, Wolsey Theatre Club, Greenbelt, Henley and Glastonbury! She is currently writing and performing new and old material, and we have another exciting opportunity for Home-Start supporters to host her in some small-scale, intimate home gigs. From an envious poem about reptiles to a heartfelt account of being a parent, and songs about spleens and mangoes, Jude’s work is often hilarious, sometimes moving and always entertaining. Royston Kite Festival & Competition; Sunday 7th August

Homestart at the Kite Festival: Homestart will have a stall at the Royston Kite Festival on Sunday 7th August. Can you help? We are looking for people to help man the stall for an hour or two at any of the following times: 9.30-10.30am (set up), 10.30 -11.30am, 11.30-12.30pm, 12.30-1.30pm, 1.30-2.30pm, 2.30-3.30pm, 3.30-4.30pm (stall closedown). If you can help, please email: tracy@hsrsc.org.uk Kite Art Competition: Calling children under eleven, if you would like to take part in our art competition, simply design your kite picture and send it to our office at Meldreth or hand it in at our stall at the Kite Festival on Sunday 7th August.
