Things to Do in August

Sunday 1st August, 10.00am to 4.00pm (first Sunday each month) Great Chishill Aniques and Vintage Fair Village Hall, Hall Lane, Great Chishill, Cambridgeshire SG8 8SH

Around 20 stalls full of good quality antiques, collectables and vintage items - glass, ceramics, jewellery. Tearoom serves home-made snacks, cakes and sandwiches. Free parking and outdoor children’s play area. Admission fee £1, children free.

Sunday 1st August, 10.00am to 7.00pm (also Saturday 31st July) Cambridge Magic of Thailand Festival Parkers Piece, Cambridge CB1 1NA

From Sunday 8th August, 2.30pm Science on Sundays, Botanic Garden, Cambridge Raising a brood - the trials and tribulations of blue and great tits

In the next in this series of 30 minute informal talks about plants and nature, Dr Julia Mackenzie will talk about the efforts of these favourite birds to breed successfully in the Botanic Gardens - not always as straightforward as it might seem. Sunday 8th August, 3.00pm to 5.30pm Jazz in the Park Wandlebury Country Park, Gog Magog, Cambridge CB22 3AE

Sunday 22nd August, 6.30pm Shakespeare’s Macbeth National Trust Ickworth, The Rotunda, Horringer, Bury St. Edmunds IP29 5QE

Bring a chair and watch Shakespeare’s play as he first saw it performed - in the open air by an all-male cast with Elizabethan costumes, music and dance. A great day out with superb air displays and on the ground, everything from classic cars, trade stands and funfair to craft stalls. Set in lovely open countryside.
