John Nardella, President of the Financial Council, member of the Parish Council and Feast Committee, has also played an integral part in the progress behind the scenes with Jaime Reyes, Joe Casale and general contractor/construction manager James Lorenzo of JVL Development, Inc “We’re always looking to see if we ’ ve covered every detail, every step, every fire alarm, checking to make sure everything is correct and up-to-date. Our intent has never been to change the look of the church but to make it ADA compliant, safe, accessible, free of liability. At the end of the day, much of the work that was needed will be things people won’t see. It was no surprise that the work snowballed from carpets and pews to this capital project Very little has been done since 1967 But for the parish and the community as a whole, this is an exciting time.”

Reyes agrees “Now, under this pastor, is the best time to take on this enormous challenge. The repairs have been needed for too long I’m proud and excited to be part of the transformation and can’t wait to see people’s reactions. Fr Leandro is the perfect person to lead the charge ”

“We are doing what is absolutely necessary, ” stressed Fr. Leandro, “and we have a list of necessary plans on the drawing board for at least the next 10 years the roof, parking lots, boilers. We’re not spending just to spend. We’re doing what any good homeowner would do ”

When asked why he took on this Herculean task, Fr. Leandro calmly replied, “Why not? I trust that Our Lady of Mount Carmel is walking alongside of me. ”
