“My king is the sun, my republic is water, my people are flowers and leaves” Claude Monet’s fascinating paintings will meet with Istanbulites. The exhibition Monet’s Garden will be hosted from 9th October 2012 to 6th January 2013 at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum. Monet once said, “I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers.” Therefore, the exhibition is focusing on his paintings of “the Giverny Gardens.” Additionally, Claude and Camille Monet’s portraits signed by Auguste Renoir, some of their photographs and personal belongings will also be in the exhibition. Monet was a founder of French impressionist painting. In fact, the term Impressionism is derived from the title of his painting Impression, Sunrise (Impression, soleil levant).
