FROM DESIGN TO GLOBAL IDENTITY

Welcome to the 2nd International Design Conference themed “From Design to Global Identity”. This year brings international leaders to contemplate and discuss the latest concepts of vital stages and developments in design related to identity.

Dr. Arafat Al-Naim Associate Professor of Graphic Arts & Design On behalf of the organizing committee

The trans-boundary nature of design challenges offers a potential need for global identity and connectedness to people globally. The current trends show that design is gradually, but irrecoverably, moving towards a common sense of identity with regional contexts.

The conference aims to bring together researchers and practitioners to explore and evaluate the move from design to global identity and to exchange and share their experiences and research results about all aspects of global identity.

We are proud to have world-renowned specialists in design such as Prof. Rayan Abdullah, Prof. Albert Inyoung Choi and, Architect, Janus Rostok as keynote speakers; along with other participants who are looking to make a real contribution to design and culture in this part of the world. On behalf of the organizing committee I would like to thank the American University in the Emirates (AUE) and the College of Fine Arts and Design for supporting this conference and their contribution to the design industry in the region and also to our partners, Dubai Design Week, with whom we’ve started this journey and placed AUE on the design map in Dubai. Also, to United Design Alliance, International Council of Design and our industry partners for without whom this conference wouldn’t be possible to organize. I wish a successful conference to all.
