Dear friends, ! ! Our chapter has travelled great distances from what it was at the very beginning of last September—a handful of students seeking to channel their energy and passion for social justice in a tangible manner. ! ! Since then, we have officially established our chapter on campus, and expanded our handful to a group of nearly 30 student advocates. We led a powerful campaign for our partner and for the movement for social justice and global health equity. Even more exciting have been the educational experiences this past year: confronting ourselves with questions we’ve never been asked or deeply thought about previously, and engaging in insightful global health discussion in the context of human rights and social justice. Most importantly, we’ve established a foundation for our partnership with CEPAIPA in La Libertad, Ecuador. We hope that this burgeoning attachment to our partner will encourage us to become closer as a chapter, increase our fundraising efforts and ambitions, gain a more profound cultural understanding, and inspire us to engage in more meaningful work.! ! As founding co-presidents and a part of the GlobeMed family, the feeling is indescribable. GlobeMed has given us the opportunity to become active advocates for social change and to inspire others to do the same. We have joined others who, half a world away, also believe in the power of human relationships and urgency for a different world. ! ! We look forward to future years with you as we mobilize our communities and drive this movement forward in full momentum.
