Mixed Use Masterplan, Margate, University Project

Programmes Used: 3dsmax, ArchiCAD, Photoshop In groups of 5 we were tasked with developing a masterplan for 100 units of various sized dwellings, a boutique hotel, a b&b, and the conversion of a disused chapel and Victorian pub into new facilities for the residents and local community. Following the masterplanning stage we individually developed a single building, ensuring that the principles set out in the initial stage remained in tact. Our masterplan focused on creating visual links with the sea, cutting through the site and emphasised by framed views. As my building was furthest from the sea it was difficult to create a direct link although the final form and massing of my building meant that 70% of units would get a sea view, and I designed a communal garden with pebble paths and wild seaside grasses and plants to emphasise the connection with the sea.
