Situated in the UNESCO Loire region, Angers is best known for its wine-tourism, natural surroundings and famous history. But beyond its tradition and aesthetical appeal, this human-sized city offers much more than meets the eye!

Not only Angers provides fertile ground for creative incentives, but it also knows how to stay on top of its game: sports clubs regularly organise high-end competitions like Swimming or the French Athletics Championships which most of you surely already know about.

Awarded ‘best city for quality of life in France’, Angers rests on the beautiful Loire River only ninety minutes south of Paris and London. Ranked the third biggest urban center in the GrandOuest with over 280.000 inhabitants and 35.000 students, the city lives up to its reputation as a practical and attractive location for events. From gastronomic history and vineyards to stunning Unesco protected landscapes, Angers also offers visitors major venues like the Angers Congress Center and the Exhibition Center.

As everyone who has visited the Loire region already knows, this part of France remains precious for all the right reasons: Over a thousand years of history penetrates the walls of this beautiful city, while managing to represent the best of culture, gastronomy and arts.

With an impressive selection of heritage sites, castles and winery domains, Angers gives its business visitors and corporate groups the unique option of hosting their meetings, congresses and corporate events in modern, yet aesthetically beautiful surroundings. With an emphasis on accessibility, professionalism and innovation, with over 116 companies (like ERDF, Thalès or Vinci just to name a few) visiting the city. While remaining a top-contender in its areas of professional expertise, which include plant, health and electronics, Angers also hosts ‘Made in Angers’, which attracts over 13.000 people every year.

Terra Botanica in Angers is one of the latest newcomers to France’s theme parks. Opened in April 2010 with the aim of exploring and explaining the universe of plants, the concept of this innovative botanical theme park is highly ambitious. All aspects of plant life - historical, geographical, economic, symbolic, scientific and aesthetic are here, some presented seriously, some in a decidedly funny way. Terra Botanica is divided into four different ‘worlds’, covering 11 hectares. The good news is it’s open to incentives and there you can embark on a treasure hunt where you will get to become an adventurous botanist, in search of wacky-shaped plants, fluorescent flowers enveloped in steam or landscapes untouched by Man! From Madagascar to Brazil, from Mexico to Japan, all over the five continents, you will explore the world… while staying in Angers Loire Valley! From April to October, at night or during half a day, incentives at Terra Botanica can be organised for groups up to 400 participants, with 5 to 8 people per team. Needless to say you will get to see rare plants, greenhouses and fields you won’t see in your back garden and it will be an experience to remember!

ANGERS Incentives and wine in the Loire Valley The perfect mix

Culinary incentives A delight for your tastebuds

The Loire Valley is known as the Garden of France and Angers itself is a handsome city with strong royal connections. But the Loire Valley is also France’s third biggest wine producing region and offers the best variety of different grapes. Wine-making there dates back over 500 years but has particularly blossomed under its last two generations of trail-blazing vintners.

The region called the ‘garden of France’ lives up to its name, with an abundance of farm-fresh products: poultry, game and fish, vegetables and fresh fruit including berries, pears and apples, and of course the famous Tarte Tatin. Hunting season puts regional game on the tables: deer, boar, duck, pheasant and quail.

A fascinating array of incentives around the theme of wine can be organised in the Loire Valley. Quizzes at wineries with the assistance of a wine-maker (where you can win your team’s weight in Anjou wines!), creation of your own wine with the whole marketing, commercial and financial strategy attached to it, and with the guidance of a professional jury or “wine speed tasting”sessions, complete with challenges, games and mysteries, during a meal prepared by a local chef… anything seems possible! Wine-related incentives are held all year round in the Loire Valley and will surely satisfy the most demanding planners.

The gastronomy of the region is very important for maintaining its own uniqueness. The Loire Valley boasts a number of mouth-watering cheeses, five of which are certified local products. Angers Loire Valley is also bordered by many vineyards, resulting in delightful and extremely varied wines, like the fruity reds of Anjou Village Brissac, the white Savennières (to be enjoyed with Loire fish!), and the sweet Quarts de Chaumes just to name a few. Rich and varied charcuterie, including terrines, potted minced and more, are also a must. Incentives that will put all kinds of food on the table are specific to the region, and will surely make your mouth water. In ‘Atelier Top Chef’, a Michelin-starred chef will give you advice on cooking, selecting the best produce, while making sure you learn the funkiest tricks of the trade. Participants will be divided into teams and will have to follow a recipe, under the guidance of the chef, and present their masterpiece to a demanding jury. In ‘Cocktail School’, you will learn all about Cointreau, the famous liquor. During an incentive that has been specially designed to federate, motivate or reward HR, sales or marketing teams, there will be fun cocktail-making, flair showcasing, and challenging blind-tasting. But beware that alcohol must always be consumed in moderation!
