Solid Sawn Joist Hangers

The HUCQ series are heavy-duty joist hangers that incorporate Simpson Strong-Tie® Strong-Drive® SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws. Designed and tested for installation at the end of a beam or on a post, they provide a strong connection with fewer fasteners than nailed hangers. See page 117 for structural composite lumber hangers. MATERIAL: 14 gauge FINISH: Galvanized. Most models available in stainless steel or ZMAX® coating. INSTALLATION: • Use all specified fasteners. See General Notes. • Install 1⁄4"x2 1⁄2" Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws, which are provided, in all round holes. (Lag screws will not achieve the same load.) • For use on solid sawn wood members. OPTIONS: These hangers cannot be modified. CODES: See page 12 for Code Reference Key Chart.

3. Structural composite lumber columns have sides that show either the wide face or the edges of the lumber strands/veneers. Values in the tables reflect installation into the wide face. See technical bulletin T-SCLCOLUMN for values on the narrow face (edge).

Min/Max: Refers to min. or max. nailing for products with round and triangle holes. Min. nailing uses round holes, and max. nailing uses round and triangle holes to achieve maximum load.

Allowable Design Loads: The maximum load that a connection is designed to provide. There may be multiple design loads acting in different directions (up, down, lateral, perpendicular, etc.) imposed on a connection.
