WELCOME FROM SUMMIT CO-CHAIRS Hello and welcome to JDRF’s TypeOneNation 2016.

Welcome to JDRF’s TypeOneNation 2016.

Thank you for joining us for another great event! This year’s lineup of speakers is better than ever! As a mother of a T1 child, I know firsthand how exhausting and frustrating this disease can be. I hope you look forward to being energized by this conference just like I do. Nothing makes me feel better than a day being surrounded by my T1 community that “gets it”—you know what it really means to manage your everyday life with this disease. This is OUR conference and we strive each year to bring together topics that will help empower our T1 community. At each T1 Nation conference you will have an opportunity to get the information you need to take the next step in your journey whether it is to: • Dial in your glucose control • Kick off that new exercise or weight loss plan • Find better ways to help your child or teen emotionally navigate the burden • Train a friend or family member on caring for your T1 child • Be inspired by your T1 peers • Learn more about all the promising research that is underway

Hi! I am Hillary Martin and my son, Benjamin, was diagnosed with Type 1 in December of 2012 at the age of 4. Benjamin’s diagnosis came as a shock to our family. The last three and a half years have been a challenge. We have leaned on JDRF as a source of support and guidance! It is easy to feel alone and get lost in the struggles of this disease, but there are other families that are going through the exact same struggles we are experiencing. JDRF has helped us meet other T1D families. For that, we are so grateful!
