TEL: Explain your name Taco:

TAC: Lol ok, I’ll make a long story short. When I was young literally all I wanted to eat was Tacos, any other food my grandparents cooked I didn’t wanna eat, I use to throw temper tantrums knock the plates over and all if it wasn’t a Taco on it. So my grandad came up with a plan on how to get me to eat other foods, he wrapped whatever they cooked for the night in a tortilla and I ended up eating it that way lol

TEL: Who were your favorite artists growing up?

TAC: Tupac, Biggie, Usher and I loved the 90s and 2000 R&B movement.

TEL: “LeClair Courts” What was your tactics for avoiding gangs growing up?

TAC: For me is was keeping myself busy with sports.

TEL: Who or what was your initial motivation for going into music?

TAC: Just my overall love for the music. I grew listening to music with my cousins and having Apollo night when everyone select their own song to sing.

TEL: Any musical training, vocals, Instruments?

TAC: No music training but I do rehearse a lot and I mean like real rehearsal not at home lol. Me and my band rehearse almost every week

TEL: Early days, did you began with a group or solo?

TAC: I began Solo and my love for live instrumentation made me want to get my own band and so that’s what I did my band is called “New Era Band”

TEL: Your first time on stage, how did it go?

TAC: My first time on stage was me sneaking into an open mic that I wasn’t even old enough for they ended up still letting me take the stage I killed it and got a standing ovation!

TEL: Do you write all of your music, do you also have others, etc?

TAC: Yes, I absolutely hate the ghost writing thing I never been into that maybe because I write about real life situations and I feel like nobody can tell “MY” story the way I can.

TEL: As far as music goes, You’ve definitely got hits under your belt. Your live show is a must see! How do you prepare for the studio or a show?

TAC: I prepare for the show by rehearsing with my squad rather that’s the dancers, the Drum-line and just my band we do a lot of rehearsals leading up to a show!

TEL: You perform with a live, dope-ass band! Do they accompany you in the studio also?

TAC: They accompany me in the studio.

TAC: As of now NO but who’s to say that won’t change later down the line.

TEL: I’d like to hear a remix of “Underrated” with GG Da Fool, Kid from Kankakee, Common, Freddie Gibs and a hot female Chicago artist! Can I get that? (laughs)

TAC: That maybe possible I know some of those Chicago artist personally!

TEL: How’s The album “Underrated doing so far/ responses from locals and or numbers?

TAC: The Underrated Album is doing great I mean I honestly knew it would be a great album but didn’t know people would gravitate too it so much. It’s a Classic in my opinion and numbers wise it’s been my best album thus far.

TAC: My favorite tracks from the Underrated album would have to be the track “Underrated”, “Never Change Up” and “Liquor” ft. Wizkid!

TEL: Name the major artist you’ve opened up for.

TAC: It’s been countless I’m sure I’m gonna miss a few but Scarface of course, Camron, Twista, Kap G, A Boogie with the Hoodie etc.

TEL; What city do or did you enjoy performing in the most and why?

TAC: I would say Houston when I did my tour date there they were going crazy! The energy was super dope! I fed off of it and gave an amazing show!

TEL: What is your long term goal in the music business?

TAC: I want the accolades such as Awards , Platinum Plaques, I want to tour the word become a household name, I Just want to continue to get paid for doing what I love doing Music.

TEL: Away from music what are your hobbies?

TAC: I play a lot sports I’m a really good basketball player and baseball player, I draw real Good I grew up wanting to be an artist.

TEL: Current or future projects, tours.

TAC: I am currently working on a new album I guess I can give y’all the exclusive it’s called “Bright Lights” its like 80% done so be ready. As far touring I’ll be hitting the road again in October coming to a city near you so look out for those dates.

TEL: Advice to new artists and shout outs, VIP ’s. TAC: My advice for new artists would be to stay consistent and persistent in this music industry. It’s gonna be times where u gonna question yourself or even want to quick but stay the course there will always be pop holes , speed humps, accidents and a lot more on ur road thru your career.
