NEW LEADER FOR BID Amanda Newbery, leader of Salisbury Business Improvement District is stepping down from her voluntary role as its leader from the end of the year. She was one of the founding business leaders of this not-for-profit organisation Amanda Newbery steps down as the leader of BID
and has worked tirelessly to establish the organisation as a driving force to create a dynamic business environment in Salisbury. Amanda says of her departure: “I am immensely proud of BID and what it has achieved in its first two and half years. With Robin McGowan as Chief Executive and supported by a very competent staff team, I feel that it is time to step down and let someone else champion them. I continue to support BID and through my businesses, Pubwatch and as a director of Citywatch, I will still have an involvement in many of BID activities. I want to take time with my own staff and to spend in my own businesses and therefore with the BID in safe hands... this a timely point to step down.” Steve Godwin, business manager for BID adds: “We are immensely grateful to Amanda for all that she has contributed towards BID and in helping us to reach where we are today. Amanda has a passion for the city and has been fantastic in championing our cause.” BID will now decide through its Executive Board the next move in replacing its leader, who is likely to be drawn from one of its members by the spring of 2017. salisburybid.co.uk
SALISBURY SALON CELEBRATES 25 YEARS Toni & Guy Salisbury celebrated their 25th year in the city on 22 December 2016. The salon first opened on 21 December 1991 when Phil Smith moved to Salisbury and took over the running of the then sixth Toni & Guy in the country at that time. The Toni & Guy brand has, of course, grown to be hugely successful and the salon in Salisbury has also enjoyed many high points and accolades, including multiple gongs at the British Hairdressing Awards.
Along with his wife, Louise, Phil Smith has worked hard to give the salon a reputation as a business that delivers the highest customer service. Their staff enjoy the best training and many have gained Toni & Guy Diplomas as well as taking part in such prestigious events as London Fashion Week. Look out in the Society pages of the next issue for pictures of their celebration. toniandguy.com/salon/salisbury
