FREE THINKING
Marking 100 years since the birth of the iconic leader, the Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibition opened at Wales Millennium Centre on 5 October – with an inspirational welcome from Lord Peter Hain who spoke about his memories of meeting Mandela and of the history of the Anti-Apartheid Movement, both globally and in Wales. Guests were treated to powerful performances from Côr Cochion Caerdydd (Cardiff Reds Choir) who have raised their voices in song, campaigning for peace, freedom and justice since 1983. The major free exhibition explores six themes – character, comrade, leader, prisoner, negotiator and statesman – tracing Mandela’s Long Walk to Freedom through a series of dramatic visual panels, films, artefacts and a children’s trail. Open daily from 10am until 18 November. Win and Ceri Griffiths and Dr Elizabeth Haywood
