THE MOON’S A BALLOONTHE MOON’S A BALLOON

Houston, stand by; because Bristol’s multidisciplinary artist Luke Jerram is bringing his Museum of the Moon back to Bristol for three weeks this summer. It is, of course, no stranger to the city; you may have admired it while it hung serenely in Wills Memorial back in 2017, or spotted it fl oating on the harbour waters (a fabulously surreal experience) last year. This time, it’s coming to Bristol Cathedral.

The seven-metre balloon-like installation has detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface, and is complemented by a surround-sound composition by award-winning Bristol composer Dan Jones.

The Moon travels the word, gathering new musical compositions along with personal responses, stories and mythologies, as well as highlighting the latest lunar science; but we like to think it calls Bristol home.

The Moon will be on display in the crossing of Bristol Cathedral from 7-31 August 2020 www.bristol-cathedral.co.uk; www.museumofthemoon.com
