ปีนี้เป็นอีกปีที่น่าสนใจ เป็นปีที่เต็มไปด้วยความประหลาดใจ ความท้าทาย และความคิดริเริ่มใหม่ๆ เราได้เห็นถึงความสำ�เร็จต่างๆจากการพัฒนาอาคาร ความมุ่งมั่นในการขับเคลื่อนคอนเซ็ปท์เฮลต์แอนด์ฮาโมนี่ โครงการศิลปินในโรงแรม และการนำ�เสนอนักเขียนในโรงแรมเป็นครั้งแรก เราได้ปรับปรุงพืน้ ทีส่ เี ขียวในโรงแรม ปรับโฉมห้องอาหารริเวอร์คาเฟ่แอนด์เทอเรซ โดย ปรับเมนูอาหารให้หอ้ งอาหารต่างๆ เพิ่มฟังก์ชั่นการโหลดภาพยนต์ในห้องพักแขก และอื่นๆอีกมากมาย คำ�ชื่นชมของแขกที่มีต่อโรงแรมและพนักงานของเราได้ถูกแสดงไว้ที่หน้าห้องอาหารพนักงานเพื่อสร้างความภาคภูมิในให้ กับพวกเราทุกคน และยิง่ ไปกว่านัน้ อัตราการลาออกของพนักงานทีน่ อ้ งลงเมือ่ เทียบกับปีทแี่ ล้ว ผมเชือ่ ว่าพวกคุณคงเห็นด้วยกับผมว่าสิง่ เหล่านี้ เป็นสัญญาณที่ดี ถึงแม้ว่าปีนี้เราจะพบความท้าทายมากกว่าปีท่ีแล้ว จากโรงแรมใหม่ๆที่เปิดตัวมากขึ้น แต่เพื่อนร่วมงาน หลายๆคนของเราก็ยงั เชือ่ ว่าโรงแรมเพนนินซูลาแห่งนีย้ งั เป็นสถานทีท่ �ำ งานทีด่ สี �ำ หรับพวกเขา และนีค่ อื เหตุผลทีเ่ ราพยายาม อย่างยิ่งที่จะให้โรงแรมแห่งนี้เป็นบ้านอีกหลังหนึ่งของพนักงานทุกคน
ดังที่ผมเคยบอกไว้ว่า ทุกวันนี้เราใช้เวลาอยู่ที่ทำ�งานมากกว่าอยู่กับครอบครัว ดังนั้นเราควรพยายามสร้างความสัมพันธ์ที่ดี กับเพื่อนร่วมงาน และหัวหน้างานผ่านการพูดคุย และการทำ�กิจกรรมต่างๆร่วมกัน ปีใหม่ที่กำ�ลลังจะมาถึงนี้ กับการเป็นคนใหม่ของพวกเราทุกคน ความคิดที่สดชื่น กระปรี้กระเปร่า การมุ่งมั่นที่จะทำ� ทุกอย่างให้ดีที่สุด จะนำ�ชัยชนะมาสู่เราทุกคน แม้ว่าปีที่ผ่านมาจะเป็นช่วงเวลาที่ไม่ดีนักกับปริมาณนักท่องเที่ยวที่น้อยลง จำ�นวนแขกที่มาใช้บริการห้องอาหารที่น้อยลงเนื่องจากสภาพการจราจรหน้าโรงแรมที่ไม่คล่องตัว แต่เราก็ยังทำ�ได้ดีเมื่อ เทียบกับคู่แข่งของเราเช่นโรงแรมเซนต์รีจิส แกรนด์ไฮแอท และสยามเคมปินสกี้ที่ต้องปิดห้องอาหารบางห้องลง เหมือนว่า ความพยายามในการพัฒนาผลิตภัณฑ์และบริการของเราได้ส่งผลดีกลับมา ท้ายสุดนี้ ผมอยากขอบคุณทุกคนที่เข้าใจที่มีให้กับครอบครัวใหญ่ของพวกเรา อย่างที่พวกเราได้รู้ว่า สถานการณ์ของเพื่อน ร่วมงานของเราในฮ่องกงแย่กว่าทีพ่ วกเราเผชิญอยูม่ ากมายนัก เราจึงต้องเสียสละบางอย่างและทำ�ส่วนของเราให้ดที สี่ ดุ เพือ่ ช่วยเหลือครอบครัวใหญ่ของเรา เพือ่ ให้บริษทั ของเราสามารถกลับมาอยูใ่ นจุดทีด่ ไี ด้ในอีกหลายๆปีขา้ งหน้า และเมือ่ ถึงตอน นัน้ เราก็จะได้พงึ่ พาอาศัยซึง่ กันและกันหากเราพบกับเวลาทีย่ ากลำ�บาก ซึง่ ทัง้ หมดนีก้ เ็ พือ่ ครอบครัวเพนนินซูลาของเรานัน่ เอง What a year! Full of surprises, challenges and new initiatives – we have seen great achievements in the overall improvement of facilities, a continued drive for our Health & Harmony , the first writer in residence program with a first writer approach. We have renovated the gardens, renovated RC&T, new menus in the restaurant, Chromecast streaming in the rooms and many more. Our guest comments card as displayed in the corridor to the canteen show more guest loving our hotel and mentioning it is perhaps the best they have ever stayed in. And in all of that, our staff turnover has lowered compared to 2018. I hope you agree that that is a good sign. Even though this year was more challenging than last year and a few new hotels are opening, our colleagues and friends believe that this is still a nice place to work. And that is what we will try hard and continue to be – a home away from home – for all of us. I have mentioned before that we spend a lot of time at work, more so than with our families. And so, we should try and have a good friend to talk to, a good boss to work for and activities that strengthen our relationships. A New Year – New Us. A rejuvenation of thinking, a renewed focus on bringing out the best – so we can keep winning. 2019 was difficult with less tourists coming to Bangkok, less people coming to our restaurants, due to the road works and traffic, but regardless of this, we still did much better than our competitors. St Regis, Grand Hyatt and Kempinski all closed F&B outlets, had less room business than us. It seems our efforts to improve product and service are paying off. And lastly, I would like to thank you for your understanding in the bigger ‘us’. As we all know, the situation for our friends and colleagues in Hong Kong is much worse than it is for us. So we had to make some sacrifices and will continue to do our best to support them, so that our company can do well for many more years to come. And so we can rely on their support when we are in trouble, as we have experienced in the past. All of this – for all of us.
What’s Happened อะไรเอ่ย? “รู้ก่อน รักษาก่อน หายก่อน” คำ�ตอบก็คือ “มะเร็งเต้านม” นั่นเอง...! ยังจำ�ได้ไหมว่าเรามีการจัดเวิร์คชอพ มีพยาบาลมาให้ความรู้กัน เปิดโต๊ะตอบคำ�ถามให้ของรางวัล และมีรถมาทำ�การตรวจแมมโมแกรมอีกด้วย อะไรจะสำ�คัญ ไปกว่าสุขภาพของเราอีก อย่าลืมหมั่นใส่ใจคอยตรวจดูแลสุขภาพของเราให้ดีๆ จะได้แข็งแรงกันถ้วนหน้าถ้วนตาจ้า :D October is referred to as “pink month”, and we made sure that everyone knows that the best protection against breast cancer is early detection. Experts from Thunyarak foundation were invited to the breast self-examination workshop, and 50 female staff members signed up for the mobile mammogram service.
คณะกรรมการเพื่อความยั่งยืน ของเราก็ยังคงทำ�กิจกรรมเพื่อสังคมกันอย่างต่อเนื่องด้วยการ นำ�อุปกรณ์การกีฬาที่จะ เป็นประโยชน์ต่อการเรียนรู้ ไปมอบให้กับน้องๆโรงเรียนวัดสุวรรณ เรียกได้ว่าอิ่มอกอิ่มใจไปกับรอยยิ้มอันแสนสดใส ของเด็กๆ กันอย่างเต็มอิ่มเลยทีเดียว…!! WoW has been our way of life at The Peninsula, and we aim to spread our wellness lifestyle to our community too! The CRS committee went to visit Wat Suwan School to give sports equipment to students. The school appreciated our generosity, and we are happy to be able to give to the community.
ปีนี้ก็ยังคงยิ่งใหญ่ไม่แพ้ปีอื่นๆที่เราเคยจัดกันมา กับงานลอยกระทงประจำ�ปี 2562!! ที่เราขนกันมาทั้งกระทง สวยงามมากมาย ซึ่งกระทงที่น่าตื่นตาตื่นใจและคว้ารางวัลที่ 1 ไปได้ก็คือกระทงจากพี่ช่างของเรา แผนก Engineering!! และที่เด็ดกว่านั้น!! ยังมีตัวแทนสาวงามจากหลายๆแผนกที่มาประกวดนางนพมาศกันอย่างงดงาม ซึ่งรางวัลนางนพมาศปี นี้ตกไปอยู่ในมือของสาวงามจากแผนกล็อบบี้ น้องเบียร์ของเรานั่นเอง!!! Loy Kratong Festival has been happily celebrated here at The Peninsula Bangkok. A total of 10 beautiful kratongs made by our staff were entered in the contest. Later that night, we also hosted the Nang Noppamas Contest, and the representative from The Lobby won the title for this year.
ก้าวเข้าสู่ปีที่ 21 ไปอย่างสวยงามกับโรงแรมเพนนินซูลา กรุงเทพฯ ปีนี้เรายังคงมีการทำ�บุญตักบาตรพระสงฆ์ที่ ลานมอเตอร์คอร์ด ฟังพระเทศน์ และรางวัลอายุงานของโรงแรมเช่นเคย ขอบคุณเพือ่ นๆชาวเพนนินซูลาทุกคนทีท่ มุ่ เททำ�งาน ให้กบั โรงแรมของเรา ถึงแม้แต่ละปีจะมีอะไรเปลีย่ นแปลงไปมากมาย แต่ใจทีร่ กั โรงแรมของเรานัน้ จะไม่เปลีย่ นแปลง ฮิว้ วว!! The Peninsula Bangkok have been stood here by the Chophraya River for 21 years. We celebrated our 21 year anniversary with our staff with the merit making as we always do. We would like to thank you all The Peninsula Bangkok family member for your contribution throughout these years.
ปาร์ ตี้ เ ล็ ก ๆแต่ อ บอวลไปด้ ว ยความสนุ ก สนานและเป็ น กั น เองกั บ การเฉลิ ม ฉลองเทศกาลคริ ส ต์ ม าส ซึ่งงานนี้เราขนอาหารอร่อยๆ กองทัพของรางวัลน้อยใหญ่กันมามากมาย ใครจับฉลากได้อะไรไปอย่าลืมมาอวดกันบ้าง งานนี้เรียกได้ว่า ดวงใครดวงมัน โทษใครไม่ได้เลยจริงๆจ้า Christmas is all about getting together, and so we hosted a Christmas Get-Together for our staff to celebrate this festive season together. Congrats to all grand prize winners and shout out to those who didn’t win. There’s always next year. Just keep hoping!
ตลอดปีทผี่ า่ นมาฝ่ายเรียนรูแ้ ละพัฒนาของเราก็ได้เฟ้นหาหลักสูตรมากมายเพือ่ ทีจ่ ะนำ�มาให้พวกเราชาวเพนนินซูลาได้พฒั นา และเพิม่ เติมความรูก้ นั ซึง่ ทีผ่ า่ นมาก็มหี ลักสูตรมากมายไม่วา่ จะเป็น ภาษามือเบือ้ งต้น ทักษะการป้องกันตัว ภาษาอังกฤษ หรือจะเป็นอบรมผู้สัมผัสอาหารก็ตาม ซึ่งในปีต่อๆไป เราสัญญาว่า เราจะยังคงหาแหล่งความรู้คุณภาพมาให้ทุกคนได้มี การพัฒนากันอย่างต่อเนื่องจ้า Our L&D team worked so hard in 2019 in order to make sure our staff members keep learning. A variety of classes were arranged including English for operations, basic sign language and self-defence martial art.
ผ่านกันไปจนเกือบจบปีแล้วกับโครงการ “New Year New You” ซึ่งที่ผ่านมา เราก็มีกิจกรรมเกิดขึ้นมากมาย เพื่อที่จะให้ ทุกคนกลับมาตระหนักและดูแลสุขภาพให้สมบูรณ์แข็งแรง ซึง่ ประกอบด้วยการออกกำ�ลังกาย การกิน การสร้างแรงบันดาลใจ ซึง่ จะมีผลต่อสุขภาพของเราเป็นอย่างมาก แต่กจิ กรรมของเรายังไม่จบเพียงเท่านี้ สามารถติดตามชมต่อได้ในปี 2563 จ้า :D The New Year, New You project was launched at the beginning of this year. We are so proud that more than half of the participants are still active.Throughout this year, we believe all participants have somehow intuited the healthy lifestyle.
What’s Next สีแดง สีแดงเต็มไปหมดเลย... ใช่แล้ว! เรากำ�ลังจะก้าวเข้าสูต่ รุษจีนกันในอีกไม่ชา้ ปีหมูก�ำ ลังจะผ่านไป ปีหนูก�ำ ลังจะเข้ามา ขอให้ปีนี้เป็นปีหนูทองที่พาเงินทองไหลมาเทมา ให้การค้าเจริญรุ่งเรืองมั่นคง ให้เป็นปีที่ร่มเย็น ให้ทุกคนอาศัยอยู่ในบ้าน เพนนินซูลาหลังนี้กันอย่างมีความสุข “ซินเจียยู่อี่ ซินนี้ฮวดไช้”!! Chinese New Year is just around the corner. Wishing you a prosperous Year of the Rat, and may your life be filled with happiness and good health. เดินทางมาถึงกิจกรรมสุดท้ายแล้วสำ�หรับโครงการ New Year New You ซึ่งในครั้งนี้เราจะพากันไปวิ่งมาราธอน กันเพื่อเป็นการทดสอบสมรรถภาพทางร่างกายที่ได้ฝึกฝนและออกกำ�ลังกายกันมาตลอดปี กับงาน Amazing Thailand Marathon!! เรามาดูกันดีกว่า ว่าใครจะสามารถพาตัวเองไปถึงเส้นชัยของโครงการอย่างสวยงามมมม!! We are down to the last challenge of the New Year, New You project. A total of 20 NYNY participants have signed up to run 10K in the Amazing Thailand Marathon event. The goal is to run together and complete 10k within 1 hour and 45 minutes.
“เด็กในวันนี้ คืออนาคตในวันหน้า” เราอาจจะได้ยินคำ�นี้กันบ่อยๆ ซึ่งมันก็จริง ว่าถ้าเราให้ความสำ�คัญและ บ่มเพาะสิ่งดีๆให้กับเยาวชนของเราในวันนี้ อนาคตเขาก็จะนำ�สิ่งดีๆนี้มาพัฒนาสังคมของเราให้ดียิ่งขึ้นอย่างแน่นอน ซึ่งในวันเด็กปีนี้พวกเราชาวเพนนินซูลาจะไปจัดกิจกรรมอะไร ให้กับน้องๆที่ไหน อย่าลืมติดตามกันได้นะ :D Children are the world’s most valuable resources and its best hope for the future.The 2020 Thai National Children’s Day falls on Saturday, 11 January. We will be visiting students in our community to celebrate with them.
