gMed Launches New Iteration of EHR System for Gastroenterologists The specialty electronic health record (EHR) company gMed has launched a new version of its EHR system software gGastro+. The new software is designed specifically for gastroenterology practices, ambulatory surgery centers and endoscopy centers.

Highlights of gGastro+ include “gScheduler,” “Online Bill Pay” and the “Patient Recalls” modules. Its “Patient Portal” feature meets HIPAA requirements and allows patients to schedule and check appointments, receive test results and check prescription information online. Other functionalities of the software include an image management system that acquires images in real time directly from any video endoscope, a

laboratory results management system, an order tracking system and advanced procedure reporting. gGastro+ is certified for Meaningful Use, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services program that offers a financial incentive to health care providers who use certified EHR technology in a way that provides optimal patient care. It also is certified to submit data to the GI Quality Consortium, a quality reporting

initiative of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Additionally, gGastro+ is approved to connect directly to the Digestive Health Outcomes registry of the American Gastroenterological Association.
