Spring 2017 Classes – Science/Adult Learning/Technology HOW HEARING AFFECTS YOUR BRAIN When we think of hearing loss, we may think of people who turn up the TV too loud, who ask you to repeat yourself and who have trouble following conversations in noisy places. But the effects of hearing loss go much deeper than that, affecting the functioning of the brain.

• How prolonged hearing loss can result in dementia. • How hearing loss is linked to depression and anxiety. • Other health ramifications of hearing loss. • How many patients with hearing loss are misdiagnosed with a variety of other conditions. • How a simple hearing screening can get to the root of the problem and point to effective solutions. Technology Classes for Children LEGO® ROBOTICS Students explore mechanism and structural design through the use of LEGO® Technology. They will build using LEGO® bricks, enhancing their spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination and reinforcing their basic understanding of shapes and colors. Students will learn basic computer skills, icon recognition and drag and drop techniques. They will also learn to follow sequences and patterns.
