merican textile designer, Olivia Ford, had a childhood lifted from a Bob Dylan song. She spent her formative years criss-crossing the states in an old Gulfstream with her gypsy, wanderlust parents. It was the era of the “haute hippie,” when couture first mixed with street style and names like Pucci, Pulitzer and Bertwell influenced everyone from celebrities and rock stars to hipsters in Soho and the West End. Ford studied bespoke tailoring in London and textile design in Milan, before returning to her American roots culminating with a design degree from FIT. This global, yet grounded fashion education eventually led to the creation of the Paisley & Blue brand of textiles and eyewear helmed by Ford today. Equal parts Height Ashbury, California Coast and Southern charm, the Paisley & Blue brand reflects the rich story of Olivia Ford’s history. Each season, Ford starts with a story. A story that combines her rich past with her personal aesthetic, her current global wanderings and her meticulous color and trend research. Every pattern is

methodically developed and refined with diligent fashion and color research and detailed graphics. Whimsically named each season with a wink towards pop culture, they nevertheless reflect the trends and color stories current in fashion. This season, Ford developed six original print stories: Moon Shadows, Morning Haze, Midnight Paisley, Sunset Stripe, Nocturne and Super Bloom. Once each print is fully developed as a complete color and graphic story, it is developed as an acetate or HD print. For the handmade acetates, each color is separately silk-screened so that each acetate has the clarity and uniqueness of a Paisley & Blue textile. The next step in the development is to translate the prints into the eyewear collection. Use of the HD prints allows for exact placement of the print on the frame. In the end, each frame in the Paisley & Blue collection is a perfect balance of color, print, material and eyeshape.
