Big.Nine 29” XC RACE / Marathon
Since its introduction in MY 2012, the BIG.NINE family has been ranging among the world’s most successful 29” hardtails. As the favorite weapon of the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM, it has gained enormous prestige in the international racing circuit. Frequent successes in the World Cup as well as in European and World Championships still add to its reputation. As lately as 2013, Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå used the carbon version BIG.NINE TEAM to win her (so far) ninth gold medal in the Marathon World Championship. So our engineers had good reason to very carefully modify this bike for the upcoming season once again. From 2015 on, access to the BIG.NINE experience is made easier once again with basically new carbon and aluminium models. All “LITE” versions are genuine hightech machines with full racing capability and with (from now on) 700 mm flat bars. Also, all aluminium frames from the TFS level on have been revised completely: Due to the combination of a now shorter top tube and a moderately longer head tube, these BIG.NINE models feature a more gentle geometry. This seperates them from their “full-throttle” siblings and makes them more suitable for everyday use. As to “full throttle”: From 2015 on, our top-of-the-line model BIG.NINE TEAM sheds about 3 % of its weight by combining its still ultra-light “High Modulus” carbon frame with a 1x11 drivetrain and a 15 mm thru-axle at the front.
