MCCS IWAKUNI NEW PARENT SUPPORT PROGRAM

NPSP offers a wide range of support services to military families with children from birth through five years of age. Services include prenatal and postpartum support, parenting classes, play mornings and home visitations.

LUNCH AND LEARN SERIES DECEMBER 1, NOON - 1 PM, BLDG. 411, RM. 231

This hour-long informal session, held the first Thursday of each month, gives parents and families the chance to learn more about resources and programs on base geared for expecting parents and those with children ages birth - five years.

Come out and see what the New Parent Support Program has to offer. During the orientation you will have a chance to ask questions, sign up for classes and much more!

BREAST PUMP EDUCATION CLASS DECEMBER 5, 11 AM - NOON, BLDG. 411 ROOM 231

Come and join a group of nursing moms with similar challenges and success stories while we discuss various methods of maintaining and increasing your milk supply while renting one of our hospital grade breast pumps.

PERIOD OF PURPLE CRYING CLASS DECEMBER 13, 1 - 2 PM, BLDG. 411 RM.217

This interactive class provides information and coping mechanisms for your infant’s uncontrollable crying as well as a follow-up plan with ongoing smartphone assistance and reminders. For expecting parents and those with children ages birth to five years.

FREE MOVIE THURSDAYS DECEMBER 15, 2 PM - 3:30 PM, SAKURA ASSEMBLY HALL

Come and join New Parent Support Program for a fun movie day where a kid can just be a kid. Come and see what New Parent Support Program is all about.

HOSPITAL TOUR WITH DR. SHOJI DECEMBER 20, 1-2 PM, MEET IN BLDG. 411 LOBBY

If you are delivering your baby in Iwakuni, we can provide an overview of available obstetrical services and a tour of the birthing facility. Meet in Bldg 411 first floor, registration not required.

Family members may video chat with their deployed loved ones free of charge.

PLAYAWAYS MONDAYS, 9 AM - 9:45 AM, BLDG. 411 RM. 231

A fun interactive play group that includes music and movement for both parent and child. Learn more about ages and stages, how to have fun with your child, games, songs and other helpful topics. For children ages two - five.

FREE PLAY TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS, 10 - 11 AM BLDG. 411 RM 231

Want to spend time with your child and play, or schedule a playdate, but don't know where to go? Come to NPSP Center every Tuesday and Thursday. Our center is open for one hour so that your child can play, or bring a friend for a playdate. Must register with NPSP; maximum of six children.

BABY INTO BOOKS DECEMBER 5, 12 & 19, 10-10:30 AM

Storytime for ages three and under. Babies NEED books! Reading to children early and often gives them the opportunity to develop a love for books, language and eventually, reading.

EARLY LITERACY STORYTIME TUESDAYS, 1-1:45 PM

Help your preschooler get ready for their first day of school! Have fun with stories, crafts, and activities that help your three five year old build early literacy skills.

DANGEROUS KIDS CLUB WEDNESDAYS, 2:45-4:15 PM

WEDNESDAYS, 10:30-11:30 AM, CHAPEL NURSERY

A fun, interactive playgroup that includes music and movement for both parent and child (ages: birth to two years). Learn more about ages and stages, how to have fun with your child, games, songs, and other helpful topics.

WOMEN, INFANTS & CHILDREN (WIC)

An after school club for children in grades three - eight to learn new things that are practical and fun from "The Dangerous Book for Boys" and "The Daring Book for Girls." Adventure awaits!

SENSORY STORY TIME DECEMBER 8 & 22, 11-11:45 AM

A nutrition education program providing supplemental food to help promote good health for pregnant, breast feeding, postpartum women and infants and children up to age five. Eligibility is based on family size and household income.

These sessions provide an opportunity for children ages two - five who find it challenging to participate in a large group or are prone to sensory overload to participate in storytime.

Join us at the library for a fun night of family gaming!
