AIBC hosts resources & mining session with Coal India delegation

Strengthening sector-focused dialogue to accelerate bilateral trade and investment has been a priority for the Australia India Business Council (AIBC).

Recently, AIBC hosted a dedicated Resources and Mining Sector Networking and Insights session in Brisbane, marking the visit of a senior delegation from Coal India Limited, the world’s largest coalproducing organization.

In partnership with national corporate member EY, AIBC curated a session offering valuable insights into opportunities in the coal and mining sectors. Anthony Christensen from Trade and Investment Queensland highlighted potential opportunities, while EY Partner Andrew (Andy) Carrick shared key risks and opportunities in the industry. The session also featured highlights from the journey of BRAVUS in Australia by Rajesh Gupta (MAICD), Head of Finance, and AIBC's Queensland management committee member. Key discussion points included the need for exploration, capital, environmental stewardship, resource and reserve depletion, and emerging technologies. There was also significant interest in the ongoing Australia-India critical minerals investment partnership.

Indian Consul to Queensland, Sushil Goel, attended the event, reinforcing the government's commitment to advancing this critical partnership. The Coal India Limited delegation was in Australia as part of an educational tour facilitated by the Management Development Institute, Gurgaon.
