Albany lights up for Diwali with cultural festivities and community unity

Diwali celebrations recently took over the Town Square in Albany, as over 500 community members gathered to celebrate the Festival of Lights. Hosted by the Rainbow Coast Neighbourhood Centre Albany and Great Southern Migrant Services, the event was a vibrant display of cultural unity and joy.




The festival featured an exciting lineup of performances, including classical dances, Rangoli art, a fashion walk, and energetic Punjabi folk dances like Bhangra and Jago. The festivities were graced by Rebecca Stephens, Member for Albany, and Asha Bhat OAM, CEO of the Southern Aboriginal Corporation, who served as the esteemed guests of honour.



The event highlighted the spirit of multiculturalism, with the Indian community and locals coming together to mark the auspicious occasion, making it a memorable celebration for all.
