ReseaLabelTM

Sustainable solution for HDPE packaging - resealable pouches

Are you interested in resealable packaging for your next product launch? Look no further than MCC’s ReseaLabel™! This packaging solution has multiple advantages for consumers, brand owners and converters. All our ReseaLabel™ solutions are customized to your specific product and packaging type. Here is a great example of how ReseaLabel™ is a perfect solution for makeup remover wipes.

ReseaLabel™ Provides Ultimate Convenience

The challenge

Makeup removal products require functional resealable labels that can open and close numerous times to keep the product fresher longer, and keep the moisture from evaporating.

The solution

Using proprietary equipment, MCC prints and applies a pressure sensitive label to pre-printed flexible film. The film is then die cut to provide the consumer with a reclosable feature. This process creates ReseaLabel™! You can customize the size, have multiple adhesive options and it can be printed in up to 8 colors. It gives the consumer convenient access to your product and is easy to use. It is even durable enough to withstand considerable strain from various processes which allows for a wide range of application possibilities.

The result

ReseaLabel™ provides convenient access to your product and is easy to use for the consumer. There is no need for additional steps or manual closure ties. The peel-tab directs the customer’s attention to the die cut opening and is intuitive to use. Opening and closing packages in this manner is simpler and easier than press & seal zippers. In addition, the product is designed to allow the entire packaging to be recycled via a store drop-off system after its use. ReseaLabel™ offers your makeup remover wipes a customizable, easy-to-use and recyclable packaging solution with excellent sealing properties even after many uses.

Sustainable Label Solutions ThermoWashTM

PSL Wash off

Pressure Sensitive Labels (PSL) engineered specifically for returnable packaging. Printed on MCC’s in-house wash off material, the single use labels easily detach from bottles or containers in the washer.

This technology is designed to be complimentary to the traditional paper wash off labels, requiring no changes to existing washing machines.

How does the technology work?

The face material of ThermoWash™ is made from shrinkable film combined with a custom-designed adhesive within a traditional pressure sensitive construction. The label is designed to detach cleanly from the packaging and is easily removable from the washer. This technology allows all the aesthetic and design benefits of traditional pressure sensitive labels. We have seen excellent graphic reproduction with the incorporation of specialty inks, the use of high-opacity white ink and brilliant metallic inks. The ThermoWash™ technology also allows to run label promotions for limited time periods without requiring any changes to the container.

ThermoWashTM PSL for LOOP Applications

Today, personal care & beauty brands are increasing their focus on sustainable packaging and more specifically, reusable containers are experiencing a comeback within the market.

TerraCycle, through its Loop brand, employs a circular reuse system that delivers the world’s favorite brands to customers’ doorstep in durable, refillable packaging. After the products have been used, customers request the empty containers to be picked up by a delivery service. After which they are cleaned, refilled, and shipped out to consumers again.

MCC ThermowashTM label constructions are designed to cleanly wash off in a matter of seconds based on wash temperature and washer flowrate. The label and adhesive can be removed perfectly from the container leaving no residue. These characteristics led to the validation of the technology by Loop.

“ThermoWashTM labels are a key component in the

MCC sustainability portfolio.

Significant objectives for many of our personal care & beauty customers include the reduction of the carbon footprint. Enabling the reuse of packaging is one way to achieve this.”

Richard Gilliatt, Technical Director at MCC

Recycled Content

PCR Material

In addition to initiatives to ensure that labels enable clean recycling of uncontaminated packaging, MCC is working on a series of projects for the personal care & beauty market segment that will incorporate post-consumer recycled material into the label facestock and liner material.

In their efforts to reduce emissions by collecting raw materials, personal care & beauty brands are looking into the use of recycled content in their packaging and thus also in their labels. More and more brands discover that the use of recycled materials is a convenient source of material and allows them to be prepared for a more sustainable future.

MCC is putting a strong focus in the development of label constructions that contain PCR material. This leads to a series of solutions for personal care & beauty brands that combine high quality and sustainability.

Filmic liners with recycled content

MCC has collaborated with supply chain partners to implement filmic liner materials that contain up to 90% of PCR. Combined with a reduced thickness of the liner, this is significantly reducing the usage of virgin PET. PCR containing liners are commercially available on most pressure sensitive solutions.

Label facestock with PCR content

When employing PCR content in the label material itself, it is crucial to ensure that the label maintains its reyclable nature. This leads to different facestock options. • PET facestock: MCC can provide label constructions containing up to 100% PCR material (clear, white or metalized). • Polyolefin facestock: most commercially available

PCR material is based on mass balance and limited in availability currently. MCC has however developed a new proprietary structure that contains up to 50% of PCR material and is readily available for trials.

Because of different recycling guidelines in different parts of the world, a selection of the correct facestock material is closely related to the container type used and the region where it will be collected. The MCC team can help you and your brand selecting the correct label construction that will help to reach your brand’s sustainability goals.
