PIONEER CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts has been the premier performing arts facility in Northern Nevada since it opened in 1968. It remains the most prominent feature of downtown Reno and the anchor of Northern Nevada’s arts and theater community. From its dazzling gold dome to its gleaming midcentury modern interior, the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts is an unforgettable architectural and cultural landmark. The building is often referred to as “the Golden Turtle,” but its actual name derives from the statue of a pioneer family that stands on the front plaza.

The Pioneer Center is listed in the national, state, and city registers of historic places.

SOLUTION CHALLENGE

Over the course of the Pioneer Center’s exceptional history, there had not been a consistent portofolio of compelling images captured for use in marketing, promotion, or for historic documentation. The Executive Director, Dennyse Sewell, and her staff identified this lack of visual assets as an area of opportunity.

Assembling a robust portfolio of professional photography has given the Pioneer Center a selection of high-qualtiy, brand-based assets to showcase the elegance of the space, make it attractive to donors and patrons, create a visual record of the theater’s history, and illustrate the unique features of the theater.

ODISEA ENGINEERING, LLC

TELLING THE STORY OF TODAY

Odisea, LLC is a multi-discipline consulting engineering firm specializing in civil and structural projects in the public and private sectors. The company and original brand were conceived by founder Jeff Ruppert in 2001. Odisea has expanded to be a major competitor in their region and is now majority female-owned by its principal engineer, Lucy Hunter.

THE CHALLENGE

Odisea has humble beginnings providing services for those building with alternative construction materials such as straw bale. At inception, the brand accurately reflected the culture, mission, and capabilities of the company. Since then, Odisea has expanded to provide services far beyond its roots.

Odisea offers advanced engineering services and solutions to a diverse clientele throughout their region and beyond.

Odisea needed updated brand and collateral that would clearly depict their evolution and Illustrate “who” they are today.

They are sophisticated professionals with experience that expands far beyond their rural area. Their services are not limited to alternative materials, but can accommodate the needs of nearly any client - whether residential, commercial, or municipal.

BUILDING CONCEPTS, INC. + TREEHOUSE DESIGN GROUP

BRINGING A LEGACY BRAND UP TO DATE

With nearly 30 years of experience in consulting, engineering, and custom home design, Building Concepts, Inc. (BCI) is an industry leader, providing exceptional quality, innovative ideas, and commitment to client satisfaction. In 2018, the architectural design arm of BCI was spun off to form Treehouse Design Group.

Together, BCI and Treehouse Design Group provide comprehensive services for all manner of residential housing projects - from stunning custom homes to thoughtfully crafted remodels and additions. All of their projects are professionally engineered to complex and exacting specifications unique to the mountain west.

SOLUTION CHALLENGE

When the logos for both BCI and Treehouse Design Group were created, they were not accompanied by well-defined brand guidelines. Naturally, the materials became inconsistent, watering down the power of the original logo. BCI and Treehouse Design Group have delivered countless projects in Northern Nevada, the Lake Tahoe Basin, and the Eastern Sierra, but they did not have photographs of many of their recent projects to share with prospective clients or to include on their website.

BCI’s longevity and sterling reputation lent the brand perfectly to a refresh of the existing logo to make it look a bit more modern. Comprehensive brand guides were made for both brands to promote consistent brand application in the future. Complete business suites were created with the new brand styles and both websites audited for consistency. Project portfolio templates were created for both BCI and Treehouse Design Group and professional photography captured of several of their prominent built projects.

DESIGN GROUP

THIRD-GENERATION CONFECTIONS

Chocolate Nugget Candy Factory is an iconic brand for residents and visitors to Northern Nevada. The family has been hand crafting exquisite candies and chocoates since 1936. They use only the finest ingredients and create delicious treats that are a sought-after delicacy.

BEYOND DIY SOLUTIONS

The reins of operations were handed to the third-generation of the Feriance family of candy makers. With Ed at the helm, he quickly recognized that their visuals needed an upgrade. They had outgrown the use of DIY photography for their delectable treats and wanted high-quality images. Their sweet treats deserve to be shown in their best light.

ADAMS HUB FOR INNOVATION

LIGHTING THE ENTREPRENEURIAL FIRE

Adams Hub for Innovation is a business resource center located in downtown Carson City. Their mission is to provide tangible tools and resources to the business community. They do this through mentoring, workshops, and a weekly networking group, all at no cost. They have co-working office spaces, conference rooms, a podcast room, and video / photography studio. They wish to attract a diverse population of existing and aspiring business owners.

Adams Hub has a strong established brand and existing brand guidelines. Therefore, the primary focus of the project was to update the portfolio of stock imagery available for the Adams Hub to use across their various marketing platforms.

THE VISION

Adams Hub is rooted in a strong sense of place in the heart of Carson City’s downtown. It enjoys placement directly across the street from city hall. The vision for the portfolio included photographs that were more modern or edgy to be attractive to a younger demographic. Many of the spaces enjoy abundant natural light that is inviting to the users.

BOBA BABES

A FRESH START

Boba Babes is a fresh, organic boba (bubble tea) drink business in Carson City started by two best friends in their post-collegiate years. They found early success in two prosperous seasons at the Carson City Farmers’ Market.

They built upon this early success and have expanded into a mobile food trailer. Future plans include store-front retail and franchising.

We envisioned and created images for their menu and for use on social media.

Fresh, organic ingredients in bright color combinations were beautfully showcased in atypical glasswear. The decision was made to not include the iconic boba straw so as not to detract from the drinks as the “star of the show”.
